To excel as a PowerShell/Python Developer, you need strong programming skills in both languages, knowledge of automation and scripting, and often a background in computer science or IT. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, experience with DevOps tools, and relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or Python Institute PCEP are commonly required. Job description

Job Type
Full-time
Description
Walther Farms is seeking an IT Systems & Data Engineer to support a wide range of technology initiatives across our multi-location operation. This role blends infrastructure management, data engineering, and hands-on problem solving in a fast-paced agricultural business.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives on variety-one day you may be building data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric, and the next you're troubleshooting a network issue or writing a script to automate a manual process. You'll work both independently and as part of our existing team, coordinating with our third-party IT support provider to keep systems running and continuously improving.
We're looking for a quick learner who writes clean code, understands modern data and cloud platforms, and is just as comfortable talking through a problem with a team member as they are digging into a technical challenge on their own.
Strong communication, adaptability, and a genuine curiosity for technology are essential for success in this role.
Who You Are
  • A strong communicator who can effectively work with internal teams and external partners
  • Approachable and personable, someone who people are comfortable reaching out to for help and support
  • Able to learn new systems, environments, and teams quickly
  • Comfortable working across a wide range of technologies and switching between tasks throughout the day
  • Equally at home writing code, analyzing data, and supporting infrastructure
  • Confident taking ownership of projects and systems, while collaborating with external support resources
  • Organized and responsive in managing and following up on support and project work
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift
  • Takes initiative and consistently works to move issues and projects forward
  • Interested in continuous improvement and bringing new ideas forward, not just maintaining the status quo
  • Curious about emerging technologies including AI and eager to apply them in practical ways

Requirements
Job Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and integrations using Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, and related tools
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using current reporting platforms
  • Write and maintain scripts and custom applications (PowerShell, Python, SQL) to automate workflows and solve business problems
  • Support and manage core infrastructure including Azure, Active Directory, servers, and network systems
  • Maintain and improve network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, WAPs)
  • Work in coordination with our third-party IT support provider to ensure timely and effective end-user support
  • Serve as an internal point of contact to help prioritize, escalate, and resolve support needs
  • Manage ETL processes, data exports, imports, and system integrations
  • Leverage AI tools and automation to improve processes and efficiency across the organization
  • Assist with and lead IT projects that impact operations across the business
  • Support and maintain internal, industry-specific software applications

Experience / Skills
  • Microsoft SQL Server (including SSRS, SSIS, or equivalent)
  • Microsoft Fabric and/or modern data lake house platforms
  • Power BI or similar data visualization and reporting tools
  • Python
  • Microsoft PowerShell
  • REST APIs and data integration patterns
  • Azure cloud services and administration
  • Microsoft 365 administration
  • Active Directory and identity management
  • Firewalls, switches, and wireless access points
  • Microsoft Windows 10/11
  • Linux / CLI fundamentals
  • Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, ARM templates, or similar)
  • AI-assisted development tools and workflows
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Basic Qualifications
  • 5 + years of relevant education and or work experience
  • Able to work full-time (40 hours per week, 5 days a week)
