Job description

Role: PowerBuilder Application Developer
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Duration: Long Term
( Looking for Consultants working with NYC DSS/HRA)
Responsibilities:
  • Develop system design specifications
  • Develops and prepares documents for the general design of solutions that meet system and security requirements, including the selection of alternative approaches.
  • Develops specifications for databases, communication systems, hardware, network, security, storage and software configurations.
  • Develops structured diagrams for the specifications of databases, communication systems, computer or storage area networks, security or network programs.
  • Develops, compiles, maintains and documents configurations of the following: databases, servers, computers, security and network monitor systems, packaged programs, macros, utilities, and communication systems
  • Develop system documentation
  • Develop operational and installation procedures for communication systems, hardware, network, security, storage and software
  • Develop guidelines and upgrade techniques of new operational procedures for the support of databases, hardware systems, operating systems software, network systems software, security and client server systems.
  • Develops detailed systems operations designs
  • Perform System Design/Development
  • Key applications enhancement and new feature tasks in PowerBuilder and Oracle database procedure and tables
  • Working on converting widely used legacy COM+ applications to new XML Gateway web services: debugging to understand current logic, integrating with Oracle calls and making modifications and integrations to ensure seamless functionalities
  • To work with quality control team to find difficult application flows where needs to have the enhancement and/ fixes
  • Application completion Edits and other business rules conversion to new monitoring Tools.
  • Web service and one viewer support and integration for the e-forms in various applications.
  • Working on Citywide Reports
  • Work with ITS staff (e.g., managers, senior programmers, support staff, product manager) to plan program development strategies, implementation planning, enhancements and changes
  • Design reports, audit trails/logs, security mechanisms
  • Provide assistance to ITS technical support staff when they are unable to resolve a program, database, or IT issue by themselves
  • Provide general programming assistance to other ITS programmers/projects as may be needed
  • Perform Testing/Evaluation
  • Handle production incidents: analysis, triaging, finding root cause and bug fixing
  • Create unit testing plans
  • Application Version controlling and compiling and distribution by phases

Required Skills:
A minimum of 4 years of experience with the following skill sets:
  • Oracle 12C/11g (proficient in developing/debugging store procedures, and packages, triggers)
  • Working on PowerbBuilder windows application development
  • Writing application software, data analysis, data access
  • Data structures, data manipulation, databases, design, programming, testing and implementation
  • Technical and user documentation, software conversions
  • Exposure to environments include but are not limited to mainframe, mid range, personal computers, laptops
  • Lead in the design of program specifications and the implementation of software solutions
