Hyosung HICO is seeking to fill a Senior Winder position. The ideal candidate will set up and operate winding machines needed in the manufacturing of power transformers. Advise engineering, purchasing and manufacturing personnel on inquiries regarding the manufacturing technical information and processes used within Hyosung HICO. Provide troubleshooting and manufacturing solutions to manufacturing areas, including tooling issues, machine set up, and investigation of quality issues relating to the manufacturing and machining processes in assigned areas.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
  • Perform any of the Winder duties and functions along with the following:
    • Manufacture of all coil types including layer, helical, disc, shielded disc, cyli-heli, pozarisky, and interleaved.
    • Setup and operate drying oven.
  • Perform setup and operation complicated machines and equipment with rigid tolerances.
  • May determine operation sequences and methods where specifications are imprecise or vague.
  • Troubleshoot problems with material/parts, prints, equipment or product & aid in the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Confirm quality criteria is properly inspected, verified and documented during manufacturing to ensure product meets specifications, tolerances, prints and customers order requirements, Identify and correct defects appropriately.
  • Follow and adhere to standard work procedures, sequence of operations and consistently meet manufacturing standards for quality and productivity.
  • Perform TPM and preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and machines.
  • Practice 6S and comply with all safety rules, guidelines and safe working practices.
  • Safely operate material handling and lifting equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, motorized scissor lifts and work platforms.
  • Assist in advanced training of new employees including improving individual skills as well as assisting in the development of training materials.
  • Actively assist in troubleshooting and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assist other manufacturing areas as needed.
  • Understand and work under the direction of the appropriate Hyosung HICO policy and/or procedure.
  • Know Hyosung HICO's Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.

  • Conduct on-the-job training for others and assist in training new employees.
  • Help in the development of training materials.
  • Assist Manufacturing Department in continuous improvement projects and tasks.
  • May provide work leadership tracking progress and resolving routine quality, material, maintenance and manufacturing problems within guidelines as needed.
  • Assist in improving methods, processes, tools, fixtures or quality as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
  • High school education or equivalent, plus four years' prior manufacturing or manufacturing experience, or equivalent education, training and experience.
  • Advanced mechanical/technical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience reading manufacturing drawings/specifications, prints or work instructions.
  • Developed math and geometry skills.
  • Knowledge and use of basic industrial measuring tools.
  • Developed skills in the proper use of various hand and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and understanding of computer applications.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POSITION AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS OF THE WORKPLACE:
  • Ability to perform mechanical assembly, set up and installation.
  • Ability to safely and correctly use hand and power tools and measurement devices.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights and climb stairs.
  • Ability to inspect work.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to judge the quality of work produced compared to established standards, drawings, and instructions.
  • Ability to operate powered equipment, such as fork truck and overhead crane.
  • Ability to use a three (3) pound hammer for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in normal indoor temperatures.
  • Stand and walk minimum 6-8 hours per day.
  • Ability to sit, squat, bend, stretch, twist, crawl, kneel, and reach above the shoulders as required to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to work in restricted spaces.
  • Ability to climb and work up to 15 feet off the ground for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movement.
  • Ability to use all applicable PPE including but not limited to hard hats, safety toe shoes, safety glasses, and gloves.
