Job description

Make an impact

Working alongside a small, dynamic data and technology group, you'll be the core resource for our Power BI development and reporting architecture. You'll design and build the reports and dashboards that leadership and operators rely on every day - and you'll grow into the go-to expert for how we do Power BI.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You'll partner directly with business stakeholders to understand what they need, translate that into well-designed reports, and make thoughtful decisions about how our reporting is structured and maintained. You'll work inside an established, modern data stack - a governed SQL data warehouse, a semantic layer, and a variety of data feeds - and have room to shape how it all comes together.

  • Design, architect, and build Power BI reports and dashboards using the project (PBIP) format, source control, and a shared theme/design system.
  • Design clean, performant data models - star schemas, relationships, and DAX measures that are accurate, reusable, and easy to reason about.
  • Connect Power BI to multiple sources: our Azure SQL data warehouse, a semantic layer, an analytics cube (XMLA/MDX), and third-party APIs.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback, and turn them into clear, trustworthy metrics.
  • Make architecture and design decisions that keep our reporting consistent, scalable, and easy to maintain.
  • Collaborate with data engineering to shape the tables and views that feed your reports and to flag upstream data issues.
  • Validate report accuracy against source systems and help maintain a consistent, governed catalog of metric definitions.

What you should bring

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience building reports in Power BI.
  • Strong data modeling skills - you understand star schemas, cardinality, and how model design drives report performance and correctness.
  • Solid DAX and Power Query (M) proficiency.
  • Comfortable writing SQL against a relational data warehouse.
  • Advanced Excel skills - pivot tables, advanced formulas (INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP), and Power Query.
  • Experience pulling and integrating data from APIs or other external sources.
  • Ability to work independently, pick up an unfamiliar data model quickly, and grow into an owner of the reporting environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience with a semantic layer (e.g., Cube.js) or analysis-services / cube models (XMLA, MDX).
  • Familiarity with Power BI in a source-controlled, PBIP workflow (Git).
  • Exposure to Azure data tooling (Azure SQL, Data Factory).
  • Background in real estate, property management, or multifamily data.
  • An eye for clean, readable dashboard design.

What you can be part of Join a talented and collaborative data and technology team that values ownership, innovation, and partnership. In this role, you'll work closely with business leaders and technical experts to build impactful Power BI solutions, shape reporting best practices, and help drive data-informed decisions across the organization. Your work will have high visibility, meaningful influence, and the support of a team committed to shared success.
