We are a fast-growing company that thrives on solving complex challenges in the energy space. We believe in a healthy work life balance and focus on giving back to our communities through our e2 For Good program.

JOB PURPOSE

Every system e2Companies energizes starts as a design that has to perform on a live customer site and clear the interconnection requirements between drawing set and energized system. As a Power System Engineer within our Power Systems department, you will support the design, interconnection, and implementation of our proprietary generation system, contributing to single-line diagrams, construction documents, and commissioning under the direction of senior engineering. Reporting to the VP of Power Systems, you will support the department's project load while cross collaborating with R&D to test, refine, and prove out distributed generation, battery storage, and microgrid solutions before they reach the field. It is a role for an engineer who wants to build real depth on high-stakes systems while working alongside the people who set the technical bar.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Adaptability to prioritize and manage daily tasks in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Oversee utility interconnection applications from submission to project completion.
  • Design integrated solutions using battery storage and microgrid systems, including controls and electrical infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to test, document, and demonstrate solutions for clients, including hands-on equipment assembly and disassembly.
  • Coordinate construction requisitions, approvals, site visits, and final designs with internal and external engineering teams.
  • Research advanced electrical switchgear, automation, generator paralleling, and transfer solutions.
  • Help define project scope and deliverables aligned with company goals.
  • Plan and test prototypes to ensure they meet project objectives.
  • Develop and document detailed commissioning test plans and reports.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders to support project initiatives.
  • Support failure analysis, identify design improvements, and document reliability trends.
  • Create and review single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, site layouts, and construction documents for utility connections and permits.
  • Review shop drawings and designs for switchgear, transformers, reclosers, and other electrical equipment.
  • Quickly learn new software and technologies.
  • Follow instructions, work well in a team, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (MUST-HAVE)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems or power electronics.
  • 5+ years of experience in power system design for product or project development.
  • Protective relay knowledge.
  • Proven proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Automation control and monitoring network design and configuration.
  • PLC configuration and programing, preference for Allen Bradley platform.
  • Comfort using common software applications for routine tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE-TO-HAVE)
  • 2+ years of field service experience (e.g., military, industrial, commercial, utility, or mission-critical environments).
  • Experience integrating battery storage or microgrid solutions into complex electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with distribution design software, National Electric Safety Code, and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of International Building Code, International Fire Code,UL 891 and/or UL1558 or other relevant industry standards.
  • Understanding of medium-voltage distribution and transmission systems.
WHO YOU ARE
  • You do the work carefully and follow through, and senior engineers trust what you hand back.
  • You want to learn the hard parts of power systems from people who have done it, not just read about it.
  • You move easily between a drawing set, a shop floor, and a customer site without losing the thread.
  • You take pride in work that is code-compliant, well-documented, and defensible under review.
  • You ask good questions and know when to pull in a more senior set of eyes.
  • You are energized by building something new on a team that is scaling fast and solving hard problems in real time.
HERE'S WHAT YOU GET
  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and impact
  • PTO and paid sick time to support work-life balance
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage
  • Equity participation through the Employee Incentive Program
  • 8 Paid Federal Holidays + "eHappy Days" (additional company-paid days off, announced at the start of each year)
  • Childcare assistance up to $300 per month
  • The opportunity to grow with a rapidly scaling energy and infrastructure company
  • A performance-driven, team-oriented culture with regular events and e2 for Good community initiatives
