Job description

What We Offer

At Convverge, we build business-level applications on Microsoft Azure, SharePoint, and the Power Platform that solve complex, high-stakes problems for our clients. We're regional leaders in a growing cloud technology space — and we're growing with it. You'll work alongside developers, architects, and designers who take quality seriously, on projects that challenge you to think beyond the task in front of you.

About Our Team

We're a close-knit, high-trust team that moves fast and counts on each other to deliver. We're passionate problem solvers who lead with quality, not just in what we build, but in how we work together and with our clients.

We believe small, empowered teams do their best work when they're trusted to own outcomes. That means less bureaucracy, more accountability, and the kind of environment where your contributions are visible and your growth is real.

We value diverse backgrounds and experiences, because the best solutions come from teams that don't all think the same way.

About the Role

The Practice Lead, Software Development is responsible for leading the growth, development, and delivery of Convverge's Software Development practice while ensuring the successful delivery of client solutions across Microsoft technologies.

This role combines leadership, technical guidance, project delivery support, and client engagement. Working closely with developers, consultants, project managers, and leadership, the Practice Lead helps develop team capabilities, supports solution delivery, mentors team members, and contributes to the ongoing growth and maturity of the practice.

The ideal candidate is an experienced consultant and technical leader who enjoys balancing hands-on involvement with coaching, delivery oversight, and client collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Practice Leadership & Capability Development
    • Lead, mentor, and support the Software Development practice and its team members.
    • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
    • Support the growth and development of team members through coaching, knowledge sharing, and career development.
    • Collaborate with leadership on team planning, hiring, and capability development.
    • Develop and evolve the Software Development practice, including service offerings, delivery standards, and technical capabilities.
    • Help identify opportunities to improve service offerings, reusable assets, and delivery frameworks.
  • Delivery Excellence
    • Ensure the successful delivery of client engagements across the Software Development practice.
    • Support project teams with solution design, technical guidance, and issue resolution.
    • Promote consistent delivery methodologies, templates, and quality standards.
    • Assist project managers and technical leads in managing project risk and client expectations.
    • Champion continuous improvement of delivery processes, technical standards, and team effectiveness.
  • People Leadership & Mentorship
    • Coach, mentor, and support consultants, developers, and technical specialists.
    • Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
    • Support performance management, career development, and succession planning.
    • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new team members.
  • Technical & Solution Leadership
    • Provide senior-level technical guidance across software development, Power Platform, Azure, AI, and Microsoft technologies while helping shape the strategic direction of the practice.
    • Support solution architecture reviews and technical decision-making.
    • Stay current with Microsoft's development, cloud, AI, and collaboration technology landscape.
    • Promote the adoption of development standards, reusable assets, and technical best practices.
    • Act as a technical escalation point for complex client and project challenges.
  • Sales & Business Development Support
    • Participate in client discovery sessions, workshops, and solution discussions.
    • Contribute technical expertise to proposals, estimates, and statements of work.
    • Partner with sales and leadership teams to identify growth opportunities, expand client engagements, and support the continued growth of the practice.
    • Build strong relationships with clients and Microsoft stakeholders.
  • Practice Performance
    • Support achievement of practice objectives, including project success, client satisfaction, quality, utilization, and practice growth.
    • Assist with resource planning and forecasting.
    • Monitor team capacity, support workforce planning, and identify future hiring requirements for the practice.
    • Provide input on operational improvements that enhance delivery effectiveness and team performance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Required
    • 5+ years of consulting, professional services, or software development leadership experience.
    • 2-5 years of people leadership experience.
    • Experience leading software development teams or technical practices delivering Microsoft-based solutions.
    • Strong understanding of Microsoft technologies including Azure, Power Platform, Microsoft 365, Copilot, and modern application development.
    • Experience supporting client engagements from discovery through delivery.
    • Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Preferred
    • Experience with a Microsoft Partner organization.
    • Microsoft certifications in Modern Workplace, Azure, Power Platform, or AI.
    • Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
    • Experience contributing to sales pursuits and business development activities.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to join a growing dynamic team.
  • Career advancement and professional development opportunities.
  • Work with cutting-edge technologies and industry-leading clients.

What we Expect

Our team shows up ready to do great work, and we expect the same from you. We collaborate, take ownership seriously, and hold each other to a high standard. In return, you'll find a team that has your back and clients who genuinely value what we build together.
