Job description

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP (E2) is a professional services firm established in 1988 specializing in a full spectrum of engineering services including, project engineering and design, federal base operations and infrastructure support services, gas pipeline construction and inspection services, environmental consulting and remediation, and information technology services. At E2, we value safety, innovation and collaboration, and we are dedicated to excellence.

We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst to serve as the bridge between business stakeholders, IT, and technology vendors. This individual will work with process owners and end users to understand business operations, identify opportunities for improvement, and translate those needs into clear, actionable solution requirements.

The role is technology-agnostic. Solutions may involve existing enterprise applications, third-party platforms, Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365, custom development, automation, integrations, or a combination of technologies. The Business Systems Analyst will help ensure that technology decisions are driven by business requirements rather than by a predetermined platform.

This position will work closely with business process owners, department managers, end users, IT leadership, technical teams, procurement stakeholders, and third-party vendors.

The Business Systems Analyst will primarily own business analysis, requirements definition, process documentation, solution evaluation, vendor coordination, and stakeholder alignment, while technical architecture, development, and final technology decisions will remain with the appropriate IT leadership and technical resources.

  • Conduct interviews, workshops, and discovery sessions with business stakeholders, process owners, and end users.
  • Document current-state processes, including manual activities, spreadsheets, approvals, handoffs, exceptions, system limitations, and pain points.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve data quality, eliminate redundant work, and automate manual activities.
  • Define business problems, desired outcomes, scope, priorities, dependencies, constraints, and success criteria.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into functional and nonfunctional requirements for internal technical teams and external vendors.
  • Create process flows, use cases, user scenarios, business rules, acceptance criteria, storyboards, and other solution documentation.
  • Identify functionality gaps between business requirements and existing systems or proposed solutions.
  • Document data requirements, systems of record, integrations, migration needs, user roles, security requirements, reporting needs, KPIs, and other operational requirements.
  • Evaluate whether business needs can be addressed through existing systems, internally developed solutions, Microsoft Power Platform, third-party applications, or other technologies.
  • Coordinate RFPs, RFIs, vendor questionnaires, requirements matrices, and other solution evaluation activities.
  • Communicate requirements to prospective vendors and coordinate vendor questions, product demonstrations, and stakeholder evaluation sessions.
  • Help compare potential solutions based on functionality, usability, integration capabilities, security, reporting, implementation requirements, cost, and overall business fit.
  • Maintain requirements, decisions, assumptions, risks, and scope changes throughout the solution lifecycle.
  • Facilitate stakeholder review and approval of requirements.
  • Develop business test scenarios, coordinate or assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and validate that delivered functionality satisfies approved requirements.
  • Support implementation readiness, documentation, training, change management, and post-implementation process improvement as needed.

Required
  • Experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role supporting technology implementations.
  • Strong experience conducting stakeholder interviews, requirements discovery, and business process analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into clear functional and system requirements.
  • Experience documenting workflows, use cases, business rules, acceptance criteria, and process flows.
  • Experience evaluating business applications or participating in software/vendor selection processes.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, problem-solving, written communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders, technical teams, executives, and external vendors.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, competing priorities, and requirements across multiple departments.
Preferred
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS applications, system implementations, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, Dataverse, Dynamics 365, Power BI, Power Automate, or related Microsoft technologies.
  • Familiarity with integrations, APIs, data modeling, role-based security, reporting, and workflow automation.
  • Experience supporting RFPs, vendor evaluations, product demonstrations, and technology selection.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, requirements traceability, UAT, and implementation processes.
  • Experience with process modeling tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, or similar.

We offer an excellent benefits package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, and 401(k).

Salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000.  The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, working environment and geographical location.
