Titan Virginia Ready Mix has an excellent opportunity for a Floating Plant Operator for its NOVA Region.  This hourly position will report directly to the Operations Manager.  This position works independently and is responsible for serving as a floating batcher at any of the region’s facilities and supporting special projects when and where needed.  When at the plant, they are responsible for directing and managing all ready mix operations at one or more plants, including but not limited to operations, maintenance, production, inventory control, safety, quality, environmental compliance and supervision of plant employees.  This position ensures compliance with all standards, policies, and regulations for safe, environmentally-sound production of quality concrete products. Hourly Pay Range: $32.00 - $37.00 per hour


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a floating batch support, to operate the assigned ready mix batch plant, using an automated computerized batching system
  • Operate and maintain plant in compliance with all applicable environmental standards
  • Inspect plant facilities, equipment and ready mix units to ensure required maintenance, housekeeping, cleaning, and safety standards are upheld
  • Function as a first line supervisor overseeing plant employees and drivers in production and delivery
  • Lead and support assigned special projects
  • Troubleshoot and resolve plant maintenance problems to ensure efficient and reliable plant operations
  • Support job site activities, special needs and act as company and representative with customers
  • Ensure that plant personnel and drivers work efficiently and consistently with company policies and guidelines
  • Maintain good working relationships with co-workers and outside agencies’ personnel
  • Implement corporate initiatives, manage SAP, and other data requirements
  • May be responsible for accident and injury investigations and notifies all required management members
  • Ensure that all products produced meet or exceed customers’ expectations regarding quality, service, and safety
  • Follow company, state and local rules and regulations, including but not limited to environmental and safety, and ensure all direct reports are performing their roles in the same manner
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of paperwork resulting from daily business

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years related ready mix experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in concrete plant management or related field
  • Must have 1-2 years supervisory or project management experience
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, ACI Level I Field Testing Technician and VDOT Concrete Batch Plant Operator Certifications within 90 days of hire
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the automated batch plant operation
  • Must exercise discretion and good judgment in supervising the workforce, including directing, training, counseling, and disciplining
  • Proficient working knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office products
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, early mornings, and overtime
  • Working outdoors with exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold and other outdoor environmental conditions, constant standing and walking, climbing, and working from heights
  • Frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching and sitting
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs., multiple times a day
