Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer for our Power team. This role can be performed from anywhere in the United States. This is a vacant position for which we are actively recruiting. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervising groups of professionals and non-professionals or small groups of specialized engineers in the Power sector to execute both large and small projects.
  • Prepare and/or review engineering deliverables for transmission lines.
  • Prepare and/or review material lists, construction details, drawings, and diagrams.
  • Prepare and/or review of procurement activities and deliverables.
  • Prepare purchase requisition, review technical content of supplier bids and technical submissions.
  • Mentor and provide technical support to team members.
  • Liaise with other discipline leads, project managers, vendors, contractors, and clients to facilitate smooth flow of information for use in preparing preliminary and detailed design and provide design clarifications and solutions during construction.
  • The ability to document and track project tasks and related design documents is required (strong organizational skills)
  • Complete constructability review of design packages
  • Perform any required inspections as necessary for procurement of material.
  • Monitor and maintain the project schedule and budgets within your area of responsibility and report status on a regular basis.

Required Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering
  • 10+ years of related engineering experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of transmission lines with operating voltages not less than 115kV
  • Consulting engineering experience is an asset.
  • Must have strong computer skills and familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, and transmission line design software PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole.  Knowledge of PLS-Tower, SAGSEC and CAISSON is an asset.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills are required.  Candidate must effectively work as part of the multidiscipline design team and provide leadership and guidance to the team.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the United States is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand as required and remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the workday.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, including continuous operation of a computer and other standard office equipment such as calculators, copiers, and printers.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

  • The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting.
  • Periodic travel may be required and could involve limited exposure to extreme temperatures. Travel may include air travel, during which the employee may be required to remain seated for extended periods.

The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
