Our Transmission Engineering team is looking for an entry level Transmission Line Engineer to support our growing Transmission & Distribution practice in our Los Angeles office. This is a hybrid position, working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. The successful candidate will be involved in all facets of transmission line routing and design. Specific areas of responsibility are provided below.

Job Description
Under the guidance of our experienced staff, the entry level Transmission Line Engineer will be responsible for:
  • Routing and design of Transmission/Distribution lines utilizing Power Line Systems software, PLS-CADD
  • Modeling and analyzing existing lines and poles using PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole
  • Perform engineering calculations related to conductor selection, structure loading, line sag and tension, and clearances
  • Assist the Engineer of Record in developing design criteria/basis and specifications for the transmission and distribution line design and procurement of materials
  • Develop project estimates and perform quality control reviews
  • Assist the Engineer of Record in preparing construction documents including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, foundation and assembly drawings
  • Respond to design requests, RFIs, and construction-related technical inquiries
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records
  • Ensure adherence to company design practices for assigned projects and for work performedย 
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Previous internship related to engineering
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel)
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed for project support
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct project work experience with Power Line System based programs (i.e., PLS, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, etc.)
  • An Engineering in Training (EIT) certification
  • A Masterโ€™s degree
For California only, this position's base salary range approximation is $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 and it depends on numerous factors such as applicable experience, skills, knowledge, credentials, etc.
