Job description

Weld Power Generator specializes in servicing mission-critical emergency power systems for facilities in the northeastern United States. It also specializes in disaster response to major weather-related events. Founded in 1951, Weld Power Generator is currently the largest, independently owned generator service company in the Northeast. We have seen significant growth in the market share and has been recognized five years in a row by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing, privately held companies in the U.S.
The emergency standby power generation field is a unique industry whose existence is not realized by most. The industry is largely regulatory driven, in that most facilities are required to maintain an emergency power backup system in the event of electrical power loss in order to enable the safe egress, and/or evacuation of the facilities of its occupants.
Additionally, most commercial/industrial purposed facilities maintain an emergency standby power generation system to maintain the integrity of vital building air/climate, and fire control systems.
Weld Power Generator is looking to continue its growth and is currently hiring multiple positions for: Field Service Generator Technicians (LEVELS I-V)
As a Generator PM Technician, daily duties will include:
• Inspect and provide preventative maintenance service for all makes and models of standby generators,
including Kohler, Generac, MTU, Detroit Diesel, Cummins, and Caterpillar.
• Inspect generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses, safety devices, and DC battery
control systems.
• Inspect engine components for both Diesel, and Natural Gas/Propane powered engines.
• Perform lube oil, lube oil filter, and fuel filter (if applicable) changes as required.
• Perform minor repairs such as changing of common engine, or generator specific items.
• Complete work orders in a timely fashion.
• Performing and completing required paperwork at the completion of the assigned call via company issued iPad.
• Speaking to & communicating with both customers and office regarding issues found during assigned call.
• Respond to Emergency Service calls (as needed) both during normal & after-hours.
Suitable candidates for consideration are:
• 18yrs of age or older.
• Have a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a CORI(Background check).
• Have relative experience working in a similar role in (Preferably Both) the Automotive or Electrical field(s).
• Familiar working with hand, and power tools.
• Have your own tools or are willing to procure your own tools to include Meters and other circuit testing equipment.
(Company provides specialty tools as needed such as Torque Wrenches, Power Analyzers. Etc.).
• Committed to working safely and utilizing provided PPE as needed.
• Possess a knowledge of reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting charts.
• Be a self-starter, punctual and able to work effectively independently without supervision.
• Able to participate in an afterhours emergency on-call rotation.
