The Opportunity

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for a Power Generation Design Engineer with experience regarding high power permanent magnet machine design and manufacturing to join our team. As a member of an integrated development team, the power generation design engineer will guide the design and manufacturing of new products through the lifecycle of the system from concept ideation to fielded operation in support of project goals.

This position is 100% on-site. 

The Power Generation Design Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Understanding the principles of 3-phase medium and high voltage permanent magnet machines
  • Designing generator stators, and stator windings with safety, reliability, and manufacturability as priorities
  • Guiding the manufacturing approach of the product and identifying major tooling required
  • Utilizing industrial manufacturing standards for construction and material selection
  • Define and document best practices such as generalized tools, instructions, templates, etc.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Generation Systems or a related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of industry experience in the design of medium or high voltage power generation systems with direct generator design experience
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing and installation of industrial electricity generation systems
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed. Candidates selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
