Job description

Job Summary: 

The Sr Engineer II, Electronics is responsible for the design, development, verification, and support of electronic hardware used in Masimo's medical device products. This role provides strong technical contribution across the hardware development lifecycle, including circuit design, board-level implementation, verification, troubleshooting, and sustaining engineering. Working closely with cross-functional teams, this engineer independently executes complex technical assignments, supports product development activities, and contributes to product performance, reliability, and compliance objectives.

Please note this is an onsite position at our Irvine, CA. office. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop analog and digital electronic circuits for medical device applications
  • Support hardware development activities across the engineering lifecycle, including schematic design, implementation, verification, and sustaining engineering
  • Perform circuit board and flex cable design activities, including schematic entry and collaboration with PCB layout teams 
  • Develop, document, execute, and analyze board-level and system-level verification test plans
  • Perform electrical design calculations, tolerance analysis, and technical performance evaluations
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues at component, board, and system levels and support root cause analysis investigations
  • Support development of system and board-level requirements for assigned projects 
  • Evaluate, select, and support qualification of electronic components and custom assemblies such as displays, touch panels, batteries, and related subsystems
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams to integrate hardware solutions into finished products
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute technical input during major project milestones
  • Support product and component failure investigations and recommend corrective design improvements
  • Manage assigned technical tasks, deliverables, and timelines within project scope.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to design quality, reliability, manufacturability, and engineering efficiency
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to less experienced engineers when needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6-8 years of progressive experience in electronics design, development, and troubleshooting

  • Strong experience in analog and digital circuit design 

  • Experience with schematic capture tools such as PADS, OrCAD, Altium, or equivalent

  • Experience supporting PCB layout, board bring-up, and debugging activities

  • Strong troubleshooting skills using standard electronic lab instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters

  • Experience supporting embedded systems and firmware interaction during board bring-up and testing

  • Working knowledge of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and USB 

  • Familiarity with full product development lifecycle from concept through production 

  • Ability to interpret system requirements and support hardware design solutions 

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with cross-functional teams 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience designing within medical device or other regulated product development environments

  • Familiarity with IEC 60601-1 and related regulatory or compliance standards

  • Experience supporting EMC/EMI design, testing, and troubleshooting

  • Exposure to signal integrity and power integrity concepts

  • Experience with electrical simulation tools such as PSPICE, Multisim, or equivalent

  • Programming experience in C for embedded systems support

  • Familiarity with Matlab or similar engineering analysis tools

  • Exposure to embedded Linux environments

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred

Language requirements:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, schematics, and written instructions
  • Ability to clearly document technical findings and communicate with cross-functional team members

Compensation + Benefits: 

The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $155k plus benefits. Actual placement within this range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience.
