The opportunity:
The Electrical Project Engineer - Process Controls is primarily responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of capital projects safely to meet budget, schedule, and technical objectives at the mill related to control system projects and upgrades involving PLC, DCS, HMI, and VFD's. Project management skills are important to develop and manage a portfolio of capital projects safely to meet budget, schedule, and technical objectives at the mill. The Project Engineer will also provide technical assistance to Manufacturing and Maintenance.

  • Leads cross-functional teams in the development and implementation of a portfolio of capital projects.
  • Leads all aspects of conceptual & preliminary design and core team selection and scope development.
  • Leads all aspects of equipment and system selection, procurement, installation, checkout, and commissioning.
  • Develops allocation/appropriation requests, creates, and tracks budgets and schedules.
  • Develops management of change plan.
  • Participates in post-startup tracking & evaluation of results and returns.
  • Selects, leads, and manages multiple consulting and contract resources.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
  • Manages projects during power/recovery boiler annual outages.
  • Manages projects during paper machine outages.
  • Provides technical support to Maintenance Planners, Foremen, and to other Engineers.
  • Follows mill's safety protocols in addition to following state and federal safety laws and regulations.

What you need:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • 3-5 years' work experience in project management required.
  • Experience in pulp and paper industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (e.g. Honeywell, Allen Bradley), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's) and Power Distribution Systems; must be able to review and approve PLCs.
  • Proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office
  • Strong leadership ability along with high ethical standards, with uncompromising focus on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Solid ability to organize and plan, working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to forecast spending on projects and manage projects within budget.
  • Ability to maintain a balance of work priorities and complete assignments within established timeframes.
  • Take on every assignment with a sense of urgency.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.

Compensation Offered:
  • Salary Range: $97,300 - $155,500 DOE (Junior, Intermediate, Senior levels)
  • Bonus/Commission Eligible: Yearly Short-Term Incentive Program (STIP) bonus based off metrics.

The salary range for this position is $95,625.00 - $159,375.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 15 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
