The ideal candidate combines strong BI engineering skills with business acumen, a product mindset, and a commitment to data quality. This person will help modernize Collette’s reporting and analytics environment, establish reusable development standards, and enable decision-makers across the organization to confidently use data.

Primary Functions: Business Partnership & Delivery
  • Lead requirements discovery sessions and translate business questions into technical designs, KPIs, semantic definitions, and reporting solutions.
  • Prototype with stakeholders, incorporate feedback, and manage work from definition through production support.
  • Explain technical concepts and analytical findings clearly to business users, technical partners, and senior leaders.
  • Provide user guidance, release notes, training, and adoption support for delivered analytics products.
  • Manage priorities across multiple initiatives while communicating scope, risks, dependencies, milestones, and delivery status.
Semantic Modeling
  • Design and maintain governed Fabric and/or Snowflake semantic models that provide consistent definitions, reusable measures, and scalable self-service analytics.
  • Build semantic models from analytics ready star schemas, 3NF, and other big data formats.
  • Choose and implement appropriate connectivity patterns, including Import, DirectQuery, and Direct Lake.
  • Document model logic, calculations, lineage, data definitions, assumptions, refresh schedules, and ownership.

Data Agents & Trusted AI

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and support enterprise data agents using Snowflake and Microsoft Fabric stacks, integrating governed data, semantic models, business logic, and AI services into trusted analytical experiences.
  • Translate business questions and decision workflows into agent instructions, tool definitions, retrieval patterns, response contracts, and reusable orchestration components.
  • Engineer toward deterministic, repeatable accuracy by grounding responses in governed enterprise data, constraining outputs, validating calculations, and requiring traceable evidence for material answers.
  • Develop evaluation frameworks using curated test questions, reference answers, regression suites, and approaches such as "LLM as Judge" to measure factual correctness, relevance, consistency, and adherence to business rules.
  • Implement confidence thresholds, exception handling, monitoring, auditability, and human-review paths so data-agent results can be safely used in business decision-making.
Power BI Solution Development
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise Power BI reports, dashboards, apps, and scorecards.
  • Build intuitive analytics experiences that use effective visual design, navigation, drill-through, tooltips, bookmarks, and accessibility practices.
  • Develop advanced DAX measures, calculation groups, field parameters, and reusable reporting patterns.
  • Optimize report performance using appropriate data modeling, aggregation, query reduction, and visual design techniques.
  • Implement and support row-level security, object-level security, workspace permissions, and controlled distribution patterns.
Data & Analytics Operations
  • Monitor refreshes, pipelines, capacity usage, model performance, and failures; troubleshoot issues and implement sustainable fixes.
  • Promote solutions across development, test, and production environments using source control, deployment pipelines, and release-management practices.
Governance, Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Apply development standards for naming, documentation, security, testing, certification, endorsement, and lifecycle management.
  • Validate data accuracy and reconcile reported results to trusted sources before release.
  • Partner with governance teams on business glossary, metadata, lineage, ownership, data quality, privacy, retention, and access controls.
  • Perform peer reviews and contribute reusable templates, accelerators, coding standards, and best practices.
  • Mentor BI developers and analysts and help expand modern BI engineering capabilities across the team.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15+ years of experience developing business intelligence and analytics solutions, including substantial hands-on Power BI development experience.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills and experience working with relational databases, cloud data warehouses, and dimensional data models.
  • Experience with performance tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring, testing, and production support.
  • Experience with source control, deployment pipelines, environment promotion, and disciplined software development practices.
  • Ability to gather requirements, challenge assumptions constructively, and translate business needs into maintainable technical solutions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience in travel, hospitality, retail, financial services, or another consumer-facing industry.
  • Microsoft certifications related to Power BI, Fabric, SQL, Python, or analytics engineering.
