Job description

Job Title: PowerBI Engineer

Type of Job: New Contracting Role

Expected Start Date: ASAP

End Date: 6-months from start date

Power BI, Tableau, Python, SQL Server, Azure/ADF, CozyRoc, PL/SQL, ETL/ELT, DAX, Data Modeling, Performance Optimization, Power BI Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Enterprise Reporting Architecture, L3 Production Support.

Location: This position does not require employees to work on-site on a regular basis. However, candidates must reside within a reasonable distance of a client office (see attached office locations). This requirement is necessary to accommodate in-person interview requests and, if hired, candidates must be able to visit a office to collect their company laptop and complete government-issued ID verification.

Interview Process: 1-2 internal video interviews & 1 client round

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions for state clients
  • Build and optimize ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, Cozyroc, and PLSQL
  • Leverage AI tools (Power BI Copilot, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate report generation, DAX development, and ETL automation
  • Ensure data accuracy, quality validation, and performance optimization across reporting pipelines
  • Provide L3-level troubleshooting and proactively resolve production issues impacting SLAs
  • Collaborate with business and client stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable reporting solutions
  • Maintain end-to-end ownership across reporting lifecycle (data ingestion → transformation → visualization → validation)
  • Support automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and improve reliability of reporting operations
  • Drive best practices in data architecture, governance, and reporting standardization
