Job description

Description

Under the direction of the Plant Manager this position applies coats of powder to decorate and protect exterior surfaces of parts and frames. This position differs from levels II and II in that the incumbent can wash, hang, and powder coat parts independently. This position also assists supervision with tasks including training, inventory, and enforcement of safety procedures. 

This   list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:

Responsibilities Required of Level III:

Assist supervision in tracking current inventory levels of consumables  

Assist supervision in directing activities to meet the production schedule set by management 

Assist supervision with enforcement of safety procedures 

Train new hires and cross-train coworkers 

Check levels I & II work


Responsibilities Required of Levels II and III:

  • Reads work orders or receives instructions from  supervisor regarding parts to be painted.
  • Preheats parts to be painted using walk in ovens
  • Selects premixed powder and portions to be used
  • Follows standard operating procedure schedule to produce required painted loads each shift
  • Assists in preparing parts to be painted
  • Moves parts to various areas to be prepared, baked and/or dried
  • Operates powder coating spray gun
  • Keep drying ovens running on time
  • Tape/foil parts not to be painted
  • Chip racks and make hooks
  • Put stock paint boxes away


Requirements

 Education:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)  required.

Minimum Experience:

  • External applicant: 7+ years related experience and/or  training in industrial powder coating.
  • Internal applicant: 1 year training within the paint department
