Job description

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems with a focus on metallurgical properties and powder metallurgy techniques
  • Define design intent and establish specifications to drive engineering excellence
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project goals, timelines, and deliverables
  • Conduct material selection, failure analysis, and reliability assessments
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers in design best practices and metallurgical principles
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in metallurgy and design methodologies
  • Engage in R&D, process development and qualification, production implementation, component substantiation, and supplier development and oversight
Requirements
  • PhD in Materials Science, related field, or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, with a strong focus on metallurgy and powder metallurgy
  • Strong knowledge of material properties, manufacturing processes, and design tools
  • Proven experience in leading design projects from concept to production
  • Proven experience in managing long-term projects and developing supplier relationships is preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills addressing complex challenges related to material properties, processing, and performance
  • Strong communication skills for presenting technical concepts and complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders and leadership
  • Track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals and drive product development
