General Function: In this role, the Paint Booth Technician will be responsible for setting up and operating the powder and internal liquid coating equipment.
  • Responsible for pre-shift setup and start-up powder coating and liquid coating equipment. Including air wash and clean injectors, hoses, powder coat guns, and clean liquid spray guns before each production run.
  • Maintain all powder coat and liquid spray equipment, including guns, hoses, airlines, and liquid lines, and replace/repair when needed. Replace return filters and pre-filters when needed.
  • Maintain proper powder and liquid coating levels in the booth and liquid paint pots during each production run.
  • Maintain cleanliness of powder room, liquid spray booth, and auto powder booths by cleaning the ceiling, walls, and floor and pulling excess powder to the re-claim hopper before and after each production run.
  • Check film thickness (daily for powder coating/weekly for internal liquid coating) to ensure product quality and complete the proper documentation; adjust settings to maintain appropriate film thickness as needed
  • Perform impact and hardness tests (daily for powder coating/weekly for internal liquid coating) to ensure product quality and complete the proper documentation.
  • Exhibit ability to manage time efficiently and be self-motivated.
  • Identify and escalate any mechanical or quality issues promptly.
  • Other job duties and projects as assigned
Physical Component(s):
  • Plant environment with seasonal changes in temperature and humidity
  • Must be capable of bending, stooping, crawling under or over, and frequent climbing stairs
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, prying, and dragging heavy materials up to 50 pounds
  • Overtime is mandatory when business conditions require additional hours.
Required Education, Experience amp; Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in a paint booth or on a paint line
  • Ability to understand or comprehend written and oral instructions
  • Knowledge and proper use of any necessary safety equipment, work aids, tools, or personal protection equipment
