Shape flawless finishes in a fast-moving manufacturing environment

Weโ€™re opening an internal opportunity in Huntley, IL for an Industrial Coatings Application Specialist who ensures every component leaves the line with a clean, consistent, high-quality finish. Youโ€™ll prepare substrates, select and mix paints and coatings, apply both liquid paint and powder coat, and verify results against quality and safety standardsโ€”all while helping the team hit production goals.

What your day looks like

Start by reviewing the production schedule and confirming materials, colors, and coating specs. Youโ€™ll prep and mask parts, hang them on the conveyor for powder coating, apply finishes with spray equipment, brushes, or rollers, and then record your work. Throughout the shift, youโ€™ll partner with teammates to keep throughput on track and quality on point.

Core responsibilities

  • Mask and tape designated areas to protect features that must remain uncoated.
  • Inspect parts and repair minor imperfections to meet quality requirements.
  • Load and unload components on the conveyor system for the powder coat process.
  • Select, mix, and prepare paints, primers, and other coatings per specifications; set up application tools.
  • Apply paint and powder coat using spray equipment, brushes, and rollers.
  • Dial in color, texture, and finish by adjusting mix ratios and application techniques.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and teammates to achieve production targets and deadlines.
  • Document coating usage, inventory counts, lot tracking, and work performed.
  • Pitch in on related production tasks to maintain smooth workflow as needed.
  • Perform and document all in-process, paint-specific inspections during each stage.
Minimum qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of hands-on painting experience.
  • Working knowledge of coating materials, tools, and application techniques.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and finish quality.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Strong prioritization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Self-directed time management with minimal supervision.
  • Consistent commitment to safety practices.
