Powder Coat Supervisor

Gibraltar is seeking an experienced Powder Coat Supervisor to lead our powder coating operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily production activities, driving quality and efficiency, developing employees, and ensuring a safe work environment.

What You'll DoLead and Develop Your Team
  • Supervise Powder Coat Technicians and department personnel.
  • Train, coach, and mentor employees to support performance and professional growth.
  • Manage attendance, scheduling, and employee performance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Drive Production Performance
  • Coordinate daily department activities to meet production schedules and customer demands.
  • Monitor workflow and staffing to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Shipping teams to maintain smooth operations.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage for production requirements, including overtime as needed.
Maintain Quality Standards
  • Ensure all finished products meet company and customer quality requirements.
  • Monitor coating thickness, finish quality, adhesion, and curing processes.
  • Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Reduce scrap, rework, and coating defects through proactive process management.
Promote Safety and Compliance
  • Enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct routine safety observations and address hazards promptly.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with environmental standards.
  • Participate in incident investigations and continuous safety improvement efforts.
Improve Processes and Equipment Performance
  • Oversee powder coat booths, curing ovens, pretreatment systems, and material handling equipment.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance activities with the Maintenance team.
  • Monitor powder usage, inventory levels, and department supplies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase quality, throughput, and efficiency.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3- 5+ years of powder coating experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience managing production schedules and employee performance.
  • Strong understanding of powder coating equipment, processes, and troubleshooting.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing quality standards and inspection methods.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and chemicals.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
