You'll partner with Infrastructure, DevOps, and Software Engineering to design, implement, and scale database systems while reducing operational toil through CI/CD. You'll also provide real-time support for mission-critical workloads where downtime translates directly to disrupted shipments.Responsibilities
  • Monitor, patch, and maintain our existing Oracle database infrastructure on OCI, ensuring uptime and reliability for production workloads
  • Tune and optimize Oracle performance through query plan analysis, indexing strategies, and schema-level improvements to meet performance standards
  • Architect, deploy, and manage our modern cloud-based database systems in Azure, including PostgreSQL and MongoDB in support of our modernization initiative
  • Own HA/DR posture across intra-region and cross-region failure scenarios, including defining and validating RPO/RTO targets with the business
  • Partner with DevOps, Development, and Infrastructure teams to ensure database architecture supports application performance targets while managing cloud spend
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions and Jenkins to automate schema migrations, environment provisioning, and routine operational tasks
  • Implement and own database observability — query performance monitoring, capacity forecasting, and cost optimization across cloud platforms
  • Provide real-time production support for mission-critical database workloads, including on-call participation and incident response

  • Fluency in PL/SQL, including designing and optimizing performant queries
  • Experience with NoSQL/JSON databases a plus
  • Proven ability to diagnose database-related application issues including performance bottlenecks, locking and replication delays
  • Experience managing database infrastructure in the cloud (Azure preferred)
  • Experience deploying database systems using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar) and CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions or similar)
  • Track record building monitoring and alerting for critical database operations (Dynatrace or Azure Monitor a plus)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor the message to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent experience
 Why This Role Is Different
  • You will deploy, monitor and tune multiple database types (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) across multiple clouds (Azure and OCI)
  • You will use AI-assisted tools (Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, Copilot) to monitor and optimize performance while forecasting and managing cost
  • Your decisions will have an immediate impact on our teams, our systems, and the warehouses moving food across the country
Compensation & Structure
