Job description

Job Summary:
Infosys is a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting. They are seeking an Infrastructure Consultant to collaborate on IT infrastructure assessments, design scalable solutions, and ensure optimal database management and performance. The role involves working with PostgreSQL databases and supporting cloud-based initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with internal and client teams to resolve complex incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and document findings with preventive recommendations
• Participate in evaluation of client IT infrastructure, prepare actionable assessment reports, and support due diligence to document infrastructure maturity and improvement opportunities
• Contribute to the design of scalable, cost-effective IT infrastructure solutions, review reusable components, and develop technical documentation for deployed systems
• Align release schedules and environment readiness, execute deployments as per protocols, perform post-deployment testing, and manage version control to track changes
• Co-ordinate maintenance schedules, emergency fixes, and technology upgrades while ensuring uninterrupted integration into existing systems and processes
• Facilitate performance data analysis across systems, coordinate insights on system behavior, and support capacity planning to optimize performance
• Conduct security checks, recovery drills, and compliance audits, implement security measures, and coordinate continuity plans to maintain adherence to standards
• Gather feedback to identify automation opportunities, analyze existing infrastructure processes, and propose enhancements for efficiency gains
• Act as liaison with onsite, offshore, and vendor teams to document project requirements, ensuring effective collaboration
• Develop a centralized repository of technical and procedural knowledge, leveraging insights from other projects to drive efficiency and retain organizational expertise
Qualifications:
Required:
• Administer, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL databases across development, test, and production environments.
• Design, implement, and support PostgreSQL high availability, replication and disaster recovery solutions using Patroni.
• Experienced with PostgreSQL performance tuning, backup and recovery, replication, and security.
• Hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, with working knowledge of Postgres internals (MVCC, WAL, query planner, locking, buffer management) and operational best practices.
• Proven track record managing PostgreSQL in production environments, including incident response, root cause analysis, and performance optimization under heavy traffic.
• Working Knowledge of: SQL skills, including query optimization and execution-plan analysis (EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE).
• Experience with backup and recovery such as: pgDump, pgRestore and tool CoommVault is good to have.
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting (Bash or similar).
• Create detailed documentation including diagrams of database infrastructure.
• Learn relevant business processes and understand the data flow, criticality and dependencies.
• Candidate must be available to work exclusively for PST time zone and be prepared to operate on rotating shift schedules to ensure 24/7/365 support coverage which includes weekends and holidays.
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
• This position may require relocation and/or travel to work/project location.

• Additional experience with SQL Server, MySQL, or MariaDB in mixed database environments is good to have.
• Worked on tools such as: Qlik Attunity, SolarWinds DPA and Delphix is a plus.

• PowerShell programming is a bonus.
• Backup and restore tools such as: EMC Networker, CommVault is an added advantage.
