JOB DESCRIPTION

Senior Database Administrator and Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) with 8+ years of experience designing, administering, automating, and supporting mission-critical PostgreSQL, SQL Server, AWS RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and Amazon Redshift environments across cloud and on-premises platforms. Experienced in database modernization, cloud migrations, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, observability, and automation. AWS Certified professional with a strong focus on reliability engineering, operational excellence, and DevOps practices.

Job Duties

  • Design, administer, and support enterprise PostgreSQL environments in AWS and on-premises environments.

  • Manage Amazon RDS PostgreSQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, and Amazon Redshift platforms.

  • Lead database modernization and migration initiatives from legacy database platforms to PostgreSQL.

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform for database provisioning and management.

  • Improve database performance, scalability, availability, reliability, and security.

  • Develop automation solutions for database patching, deployments, monitoring, backup validation, and maintenance.

  • Integrate database deployments with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes.

  • Implement monitoring and observability using CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Grafana, and custom automation.

  • Establish PostgreSQL standards, governance, and operational best practices.

  • Provide architectural guidance for application teams adopting PostgreSQL and cloud-native database services.

  • Design and maintain HA/DR solutions, replication technologies, and recovery strategies.

  • Optimize AWS database costs and resource utilization while maintaining performance objectives.

  • Mentor junior DBAs and engineers and lead strategic database initiatives.

  • Provide 24x7 production support for mission-critical applications and services.

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate

  • AWS Certified Database – Specialty (or equivalent database certification)

  • HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
