We are seeking a research assistant to support the design and development of an online Playbook for the Implementation Research Logic Model (IRLM). The IRLM is a tool that supports the planning, execution, reporting, and synthesis of implementation research and practice-change initiatives by helping users connect contextual factors, implementation strategies, mechanisms of action, and outcomes.
The research assistant will work with an interdisciplinary implementation science team to transform an existing IRLM user manual, worksheets, examples, and supporting materials into an engaging, accessible, and interactive online Playbook using Genially. The successful candidate will help organize content, develop a cohesive visual design, build interactive learning elements, and ensure that the Playbook is intuitive for users with different levels of experience.
This position is well suited for a student or early-career professional with interests in instructional design, digital communication, public health, implementation science, educational technology, or user-centered design.

Primary responsibilities
Applicant will collaborate with the project team to translate written guidance into an interactive and visually coherent online resource. Responsibilities will include:

• Developing the Playbook's visual identity, page templates, navigation structure, and overall design system in Genially.
• Converting chapters of the IRLM user manual into concise, engaging, web-appropriate content while preserving the meaning and methodological accuracy of the source material.
• Designing interactive elements such as menus, clickable diagrams, pop-up definitions, examples, knowledge checks, decision aids, process maps, and step-by-step activities.
• Integrating worksheets, templates, downloadable resources, annotated examples, and links to external materials.
• Creating visual representations of key IRLM concepts, including relationships among determinants, strategies, mechanisms, and outcomes.
• Helping develop pathways for different audiences and use cases, such as first-time users, experienced implementation researchers, practitioners, community partners, trainees, funders, and reviewers.
• Applying accessible design practices, including readable layouts, clear navigation, appropriate color contrast, alternative text, and plain-language presentation where appropriate.
• Reviewing content for consistency in terminology, formatting, headings, links, and visual conventions.
• Conducting quality-assurance checks to identify navigation problems, formatting inconsistencies, broken links, or display issues.
• Supporting informal usability testing with members of the research team and potential users.
• Documenting feedback and revising the Playbook in response to team review and user testing.
• Maintaining organized project files, version histories, source materials, and design assets.
• Assisting with the development of brief instructions for future maintenance and updating of the Playbook.
• Participating in regular project meetings and providing progress updates to the study team.

Expected deliverables
Main deliverable includes a complete IRLM Playbook: content and navigation structure; reusable Genially design templates; interactive versions of the Playbook chapters; integrated worksheets and examples; a quality-assurance and usability review; revisions based on team feedback; and documentation to guide future updates.
Required qualifications
Applicants should have:

• Experience or coursework in graphic design, instructional design, digital media, web content development, educational technology, communications, public health, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to organize complex information into clear and visually engaging formats.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency across a large, multi-section resource.
• Strong written communication, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively, respond constructively to feedback, and manage iterative revisions.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain organized project documentation.
• Familiarity with presentation or digital-design platforms such as Genially, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Articulate, Microsoft PowerPoint, Figma, or similar tools.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Research Assistant, II : Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
Research Assistant, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience.
Research Assistant, IV: Requires 5+ years of related experience.
Preferences
Preferred qualifications
The following experience is desirable but not required:

• Prior experience using Genially, Canva, Articulate, Adobe Illustrator or other digital design products to create interactive presentations, microsites, educational modules, or online resources.
• Experience with user-centered design, information architecture, usability testing, or instructional design.
• Experience developing content for academic, healthcare, public health, community, or professional audiences.
• Familiarity with accessibility principles for digital content.
• Experience translating technical or scientific material into plain-language or visually accessible content.
• Familiarity with implementation science, logic models, program evaluation, quality improvement, or health services research.
• Experience working with interdisciplinary research teams.
• A portfolio or examples of relevant design, instructional, or digital communication work.

Desired attributes
The ideal candidate will be creative, organized, responsive, collaborative, and comfortable working with a resource that will evolve through multiple rounds of review. The candidate should be able to balance visual innovation with scientific accuracy and recognize that different users may require different levels of detail, explanation, and interactivity.
