Postdoctoral Researcher - Gen AI in Construction Planning & Design

KBR is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our program for a one-year appointment. This research initiative focuses on the integration and application of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) within the planning and design phases of construction projects. The successful candidate will conduct pivotal research that directly supports and furthers the United States Air Force's strategic goal of advancing the quality, efficiency, and speed of the pre-construction phase.
As a researcher at a military college, you will be working at the intersection of advanced computational technologies and defense infrastructure innovation.
This is not a remote job opportunity. The applicant must be local to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Key Responsibilities:
• Research & Development: Develop, test, and implement GenAI frameworks tailored for construction planning, architectural design, and pre-construction workflows.
• Air Force Alignment: Ensure research outputs directly translate to improving the speed and quality of military and defense pre-construction phases.
• Collaboration: Participate in weekly in-person meetings on campus to brief progress, collaborate with the program director, and align on project milestones.
Work Environment:
  • Location: On-Site
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%
  • Working Hours: Standard

Required Qualifications:
  • Required Education: Ph.D. in Construction Engineering or Construction Management (Primary). Candidates with a Ph.D. in Architecture and the requisite technical skills will also be strongly considered.
  • Required Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in Python programming and hands-on experience utilizing Generative AI frameworks.
  • Employment Eligibility: Because this position is located at a military college, the candidate must meet requirements set by the customer.
