Position Summary
The Schrider Lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is hiring a postdoc in population genetics and/or phylogenetics. The successful candidate will help design and carry out projects related to one or more of the following:
1) the development and application of computational methods to interrogate the impacts of (and interplay between) adaptation, recombination, introgression, and demographic changes on genetic diversity within and between species;
2) elucidating the phylogenetic relationships among species and/or the genealogical relationships of individuals of the same species;
3) the study of these or other evolutionary questions in mosquito genomes;
4) examining the dynamics of evolutionary models (e.g. the evolution of therapeutic resistance in cancer) via simulation and/or analytical theory.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in Evolution, Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related fields.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The successful candidate will have a strong research background in evolutionary genetics and/or computational genomics.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The ideal candidate will be an individual who is highly motivated by team science.
