Post Production information

What is post production?

Post production refers to the stage in filmmaking, video production, or photography that occurs after the initial recording or shooting. It involves editing the footage, adding visual effects, sound design, color correction, and finalizing the project for distribution. The goal of post production is to polish and enhance the raw material into a finished product that meets the creative vision. This process is crucial for ensuring the quality and coherence of films, TV shows, commercials, and other media projects. Post production teams often include editors, sound engineers, and visual effects artists.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a post production specialist?

To thrive as a Post Production Specialist, you need expertise in video editing, sound design, color grading, and a solid understanding of storytelling, often supported by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and Avid Media Composer is typically required. Strong attention to detail, creativity, time management, and effective communication skills help you excel in collaborating with directors and producers. These abilities are essential for delivering polished, high-quality content that meets both creative and technical standards within tight deadlines.

What are some common challenges faced in a post production role, and how can they be addressed?

In Post Production, professionals often encounter tight deadlines, frequent last-minute changes, and the need to coordinate with multiple departments such as editors, sound designers, and visual effects artists. Managing version control and ensuring all team members are working with the most recent assets can also be challenging. Strong organizational skills, clear communication, and familiarity with collaborative software are essential to streamline workflow and minimize errors. Building a proactive relationship with directors and producers helps anticipate potential issues and maintain a smooth post-production process.

Job description

Overview

Hexagon's NovAtel Positioning Division, part of the Autonomous Solutions business area, is looking for an experienced product manager to build and grow our Positioning Solutions software services portfolio. This is an opportunity to define a brand-new service offering that turns NovAtel and wider Hexagon positioning technology into recurring-revenue offerings that bring value to our customers. This role also includes product ownership of our customer-facing software applications, including our Waypoint post-processing software and the NovAtel Application Suite.

As Product Manager, Positioning Solutions, you will be responsible for the vision, roadmap and lifecycle of this software services portfolio: defining what we build and when, taking validated proof-of-concepts through to commercial products, growing Waypoint revenue, and ensuring the NovAtel Application Suite continues to meet evolving customer needs.

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with offices around the world. This position can be based remotely within Europe or North America, or at a Hexagon | Autonomous Solutions office.

Responsibilities

As Product Manager, Positioning Solutions, you will be responsible for:

  • Defining the product vision, strategy and roadmap for the software services portfolio, including a new Positioning-as-a-Service offering that combines the best of NovAtel and Hexagon positioning technology into a recurring-revenue software service, acting as the single point that commits what the division will build and when, including commitments made to strategic partners.
  • Growing Waypoint post-processing revenue (Inertial Explorer, Inertial Explorer Xpress, GrafNav/GrafNet and the Waypoint SDK) by evolving the portfolio's capabilities, packaging and subscription model to win and retain customers.
  • Ensuring the NovAtel Application Suite (NAS) continues to meet customer needs across the full lifecycle, from evaluation and integration through to field operations, by prioritising the receiver-management, monitoring, interference-detection and data-analysis capabilities that help customers get the most from our hardware.
  • Capturing and prioritising market and customer requirements into clear product and market requirements documents (PRDs/MRDs) and a prioritised backlog, balancing customer value, technical feasibility and commercial return.
  • Working with engineering to assess technical feasibility, scope releases, and take validated proof-of-concepts through the productisation gate into supportable, scalable commercial products. You will act as the product lead at the POC-to-product decision, alongside business development, on whether to productise, partner or stop.
  • Defining the commercial model for our software services, including activation-based licensing, subscriptions and service bundles, to grow recurring revenue and improve customer lifetime value, in partnership with product marketing and business development.
  • Managing the full product lifecycle, including post-launch performance, release planning, end-of-life decisions and cannibalisation risk across the software services portfolio.
  • Partnering with product marketing on positioning, launch and enablement so the value of our software services is clearly articulated to customers, sales and dealers.
  • Defining and tracking the product metrics that matter: adoption, retention, recurring revenue and customer satisfaction, and using them, alongside direct customer engagement, to steer the roadmap and ensure we build what customers will buy.
  • Travel, including regional and international customer visits to understand customer challenges and future needs, and attending tradeshows, conferences and other industry events to represent the NovAtel Positioning Division.
Qualifications

Must-have:

  • Technical degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Computer Science, Geomatics or similar).
  • 3+ years of product management experience for software, SaaS or technology services.
  • 5+ years of combined experience in product management, software or product development, or commercial roles in GNSS, positioning, geospatial software, or a related technology industry.
  • Demonstrated experience taking software or services products through the full lifecycle, from requirements and roadmap through launch to post-launch growth.
  • Working understanding of recurring-revenue and subscription business models, and what drives adoption, retention and customer lifetime value.
  • Attention to detail but balanced with a high-level overview.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Passion for products that are easy to use.

Key Success Factors:

  • Self-starter who is motivated by both technology and solving customer problems.
  • Comfortable making prioritisation and trade-off decisions with incomplete information.
  • Familiarity with GNSS, GNSS+INS or post-processing workflows (PPK/PPP and correction services), or the ability to get up to speed quickly.
  • Well spoken, organised and technically adept; can understand different technical and business audiences and communicate complex topics for any audience.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial judgement, with a bias toward recurring-revenue outcomes.
  • Can easily adapt to a changing environment with multiple priorities.
  • Focus on continuous learning.
  • "Out of the box" thinking.
