Job Description

The Senior Associate, Investment Banking position offers the opportunity to gain significant transaction and business development experience. Drawing on previous experience, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to take the initiative with files, will possess exceptional communication and management skills, and have a history of client-facing exposure. The successful candidate will gain valuable exposure to both a wide array of industries, including healthcare, mining, technology, media, real estate and diversified industries, and diverse products ranging from equity offerings through to high yield senior debt instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Take guidance from and work closely with senior bankers, and act as the point person in utilizing the resources of the junior investment banking team
  • Play a significant role in the execution of client transactions, including acting as a central point of contact for the deal team and client team member as appropriate
  • Lead and oversee financial modeling and analyses, and provide corresponding recommendations to clients and the internal team
  • Plan and execute deal related due diligence activities and present findings internally
  • Participate in developing investor presentation materials and in road show marketing activities
  • Work with outside working group members including legal advisors, accounting advisors and auditors, among others
  • Maintain responsibility for the overall information and communication flow on deal teams
  • Actively manage and mentor analysts, and provide regular feedback
  • Lead the preparation of transaction documents, including prospectuses, offering memoranda, term sheets, engagement letters and proposals
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Skills, Behaviours and Experience

  • At least three years of experience in investment banking or a related corporate finance role (private equity, venture capital, mezzanine finance) combined with completion of an MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred.
  • Well-developed analytical skills evidenced by an ability to define what drives outcomes
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry and market to assess impact of market conditions
  • Working knowledge of securities laws and regulatory requirements
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated, committed and responsible attitude with a demonstrated ability to manage priorities in a demanding work environment
