Job description

The Point of Sale (POS) Installer is responsible for setting up and maintaining network equipment, including cash registers, monitors, printers, cameras, and computers in McDonald's locations nationwide. This role requires a mix of technical skills, customer interaction, mechanical skills, and physical labor. The POS installer will also support the help desk services when they are not on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Troubleshooting
    • Install, configure, and maintain network equipment such as cash registers, printers, monitors, cameras, and computers.
    • Run & terminate network and video cables to the required standards
    • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network operations.
  • Training
    • Provide training to McDonald's employees on technical systems and network operations.
    • Participate in periodic training on software, hardware, and troubleshooting techniques
    • Assist in the training of new installers and subcontractors in the field.
  • Travel & Expenses
    • Coordinate airline, rental car, and hotel needs for all assigned projects
    • Complete necessary reports and submit receipts to verify charges to expense accounts
    • Maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Collaboration
    • Support Help Desk operations when not traveling to installation sites.
    • Assist other departments as needed or when requested to support broader team objectives.
    • Other duties as assigned or requested

Working Conditions:

  • Willingness to travel 2-3 weeks per month, with most weekends home.
  • Ability to squat, kneel, crawl, and climb ladders as needed to access equipment and cabling.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible shifts as needed to meet customer needs onsite
  • Working indoors and outside as needed, including occasionally in inclement weather
  • Comfortable driving in times of low visibility, such as night driving or during inclement weather
  • Regular overtime while traveling

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of Windows OS
  • Understand the basic art of troubleshooting
  • Effective communication skills and phone etiquette
  • Ability to follow directions well, both verbal and written
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Adaptability to frequent changes, delays, and unexpected events.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in assisting wherever needed.
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing
  • No DUI or Felony convictions in the past 5 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical and Mechanical experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a quick-service restaurant environment
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools.
