Job description

The primary focus will be identifying, analyzing, and documenting business, functional, and non-functional requirements. Acting as a liaison between IT, management, and end-users to ensure the new POS technical solution meet DMV business goals.
**Candidates need to live in the Raleigh/Durham areas, no more than 60 miles outside of Raleigh, NC
We are seeking an expert-level Project Business Analyst to support a statewide Cloud POS Modernization initiative. This role is ideal for a senior analyst with deep experience in cloud-hosted payment solutions, enterprise integrations, and complex modernization projects. You will partner with business leaders, technical teams, and vendors to drive requirements, testing, and deployment of a new cloud-based point-of-sale platform supporting DMV operations across North Carolina.
The analyst partners with leadership, field operations, engineering teams, AWS/cloud architects, and vendors to ensure the solution meets modernization objectives, improves reliability, restores NFC/contactless acceptance, and integrates cleanly with DMV enterprise systems.
Lead elicitation and validation of business, functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements for cloud-hosted cashiering, payment processing, device management, and financial reporting.
Translate modernization drivers-such as PCI DSS compliance risks, device management constraints, and reconciliation issues (duplicate charges, refund delays)-into actionable requirements.
Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, data-flow diagrams, and integration specifications for an integrated AWS-hosted point-of-sale solution.
Support UAT cycles, validating performance, stability, customer-experience improvements, and compliance outcomes.
Evaluate sync processes between cloud POS, DMV backend systems, and enterprise financial platforms.
Support phased statewide rollout preparation, including pilot plans, training coordination, device estate planning, and operational readiness.
This role requires 4+ years of professional cloud experience, preferably across AWS and Azure, including:
โ€ข Secure API-based payment integrations and data synchronization
โ€ข Scalable architecture analysis for high-volume transaction processing
โ€ข Performance optimization and monitoring of cloud-hosted transactional systems
