Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, the Retail POS Support Tech 1 provides technical support to the company's end users over the phone, or remotely via remote access software. Responsibilities include creation of incident tickets for Retail POS Register issues, as well as other daily and project tasks as assigned. They may also perform Operations tasks as assigned.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Respond to telephone calls, e-mails, and Service Desk requests for technical support.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency while dealing with multiple tasks and turning around service requests and repairs of POS systems as quickly as possible.
  • Provide support to the retail stores including identifying, researching and resolving technical problems related to POS registers and peripherals.
  • Maintain all technical documentation as it relates to the support of the hardware and software required for proper register operation and support
  • Work with Toshiba Tech Support to order parts and resolve issues.
  • Work with IT team to identify and implement plans for technology upgrades and deployments.
  • Willing to work a variable schedule to provide appropriate levels of support to the Retail Stores.
  • This schedule for this position may include working evenings and weekends.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Application Software troubleshooting
  • Computer Hardware troubleshooting
  • Analysis and resolution or retail experience encompassing Retail Point of Sale
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding in order to carry out instructions in written, oral, and diagram form
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Willingness to respond to a variety of tickets encompassing Retail issues
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and skillsets
  • Excellent customer support skills
  • Ability to operate various computer-related equipment
  • Possess active listening skills and conflict mediation skills
  • Degree in Computer Science recommended but not required
  • Experience with Linux operating and window operating systems

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regularly performs computer work and sits.
  • Occasionally walks and stands.
  • Seldom/never lifts up to 50lbs.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
  • Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
