Compensation: $30.00/hr
The Maintenance Engineer II is responsible for daily operation, maintenance, and reliability of hotel engineering systems to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted property operations. This role supports the Engineering Supervisor in maintaining guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, plant equipment, and recreational facilities in accordance with operational requirements, safety standards, regulatory obligations, and luxury hospitality service expectations.
Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance & Repairs
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, fire, plumbing, snowmelt boilers, laundry, kitchen, pool equipment, painting, carpentry, and concrete work in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment, including HVAC, boilers, electrical, fire, pumps, kitchen equipment, and refrigeration systems.
  • Maintain guest rooms, including lighting, fixtures, A/C units, door locks, and finishes.
  • Record equipment readings and maintenance activities accurately in logs or CMMS systems.

Guest Experience Support
  • Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to guests during maintenance activities.
  • Maintain all areas of the hotel to luxury hospitality standards.

Systems Operation & Monitoring
  • Monitor and operate key building systems (HVAC, BMS, electrical, fire, plumbing).
  • Conduct routine inspections of plant rooms, mechanical spaces, and equipment.
  • Ensure proper functioning of pools, spas, and recreational facilities.

Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to all OSHA, local, state, and federal safety codes and regulations.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and proper use of PPE.
  • Support fire/life safety systems testing and emergency response procedures.

Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and work order completion.
  • Report equipment issues, failures, and capital needs to supervisors.
  • Assist in tracking inventory of spare parts and tools.

Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with other departments (Housekeeping, F&B, Front Office) to support operations.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors as required.
  • Support department initiatives, including sustainability and energy efficiency.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade certification preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in hotel engineering or related field.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems, painting and carpentry.
  • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and fire systems
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift heavy work - Exerting more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency callouts, as business needs require.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, lift tools and materials, and work in mechanical spaces, outdoor areas, and variable environmental conditions.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces, heights, and varying conditions.
