Job Summary:

The Portfolio Analyst will work closely with our Asset Managers and the SVP of Asset Management on client matters such as analyzing client’s current portfolio, reviewing wealth management analyses, and making asset allocation recommendations. The Analyst will contribute to liaison efforts between Portfolio Management Teams and our Asset Managers and associates in regards to overall asset allocation and market updates while performing due diligence on specific investment choices and vendors.

Job Accountabilities: 

  • Participating member of the firm’s Investment, Annuity and Complex Product Committees 
  • Contributing member of large market update and training calls 
  • Analyzes performance, style, and risk measures for investment portfolios
  • Reviews client’s account(s) and prepares portfolio reviews at the request of Relationship Managers and Asset Managers to include portfolio review and observation write-ups, reinvestment analysis to show before and after strategy implementation and Monte Carlo simulations
  • Recommends manager selections within managed accounts and variable annuities
  • Evaluates clients outside accounts to make proper asset allocation recommendations
  • Uses software tools to analyze clients outside accounts and current portfolio for proper allocation recommendations. Software tools include Y:Charts, Right Capital, eMoney, Excel, Morningstar Annuity, Envestnet and Tamarac
  • Fidelity Institutional Trading platforms (Wealthscape), Security, Debt & Fund order entry
  • Create “portfolio observations” for clients that bullet point questionable investment strategies within their overall portfolio and recommendations to better suit client investment objectives
  • Performs due diligence on portfolio managers available within our broker/dealer to decide which will best fit the client’s needs and documents all due diligence conversations of the IC
  • Keeps abreast of current market conditions and changes through vendor conference calls and market outlooks
  • Provides analysis of new and existing vendors and reviews possible software and technology enhancements
  • Continuously maintain and update software in order that data consistently stays up to date with ever-changing market environments. Coordinate research and delivery of annual updates to capital market assumptions from Lenox Asset Management Committee and various external analyst desks, ensuring that data is then updated across platforms
  • Act as one of the firm’s lead traders for unmanaged full-service brokerage accounts, while consistently maintaining managed trading readiness
  • Maintain and update strategic model portfolios in Right Capital, rooted in firm’s capital market assumptions
  • Provide ongoing support to newly developed investment and variable annuity solutions

Job Competencies: 

Required Knowledge

  • Experienced with broad asset class categories such as equity, fixed income and alternative investments
  • Experienced with broad range of investment vehicles: open and closed ended funds, private offerings, process and event driven alternatives, and separately managed accounts
  • Knowledge of applicable industry regulation and practices and competitors
  • Writing and delivering attribution analyses
  • Ability to converse directly on capital markets and economic fundamentals
  • Experienced with due diligence reviews of money manager solutions
  • Variable annuity solutions and optional riders

Education/Experience/License Requirements:

  • 4-year college degree
  • 5 years of broad financial services background or general portfolio management experience
  • Client facing communication a plus
  • Series 7 required
  • Series 66 preferred (will need to obtain)
  • Life & Health
  • CFA, CFP or CIMA a plus

The base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 – $117,000.00 The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
