Associate, Capital Portfolio Management

Fervo Energy Company

Houston, TX • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 7 days ago

Job description

Fervo is building the most cost-effective, repeatable geothermal power plants in the world. Achieving this at scale requires disciplined capital allocation and clear visibility across a growing portfolio of projects. Fervo's success depends on deploying capital efficiently, managing risk across development and delivery, and aligning investment decisions with long-term value creation.
We are seeking an Associate, Capital Portfolio Management to support management and administration of Fervo's portfolio of capital facilities. This role works closely with the Director, Capital Portfolio Management as well as Finance, Legal, Accounting, Development, Asset Management, Treasury, and Engineering teams to ensure capital facilities are administered efficiently, compliance obligations are met, and financing structures support long-term value creation.
The Associate, Capital Portfolio Management will support the ongoing management of Fervo's portfolio of private capital facilities across the full project and corporate lifecycle, including project-level equity, tax equity, project finance debt, and corporate debt facilities.
This role provides hands-on execution support for Fervo's capital stack post-close - helping to ensure financing structures are governed, administered, and optimized from initial construction through operations, refinancings, amendments, and long-term portfolio optimization. The Associate (in tandem with the Director) will work directly with lenders, equity partners, and internal stakeholders to support construction-period execution, maintain compliance, and assist in the efficient deployment of capital across Fervo's growing portfolio of enhanced geothermal projects.
Requirements
Responsibilities
Capital Facility and Portfolio Management
  • Support the ongoing management of Fervo's private capital facilities across project and corporate levels, including project finance debt, project-level equity and joint venture structures, tax equity, and corporate debt facilities
  • Help establish and maintain disciplined portfolio management practices, including tracking capital structures, maintaining compliance calendars, and organizing governing documentation across the full asset lifecycle

Project Finance Debt Management
  • Support the management of project finance debt facilities throughout construction and operations, including preparation and processing of construction loan draws, tracking borrowing base mechanics and conditions precedent, preparing lender notices, and monitoring compliance reporting and covenant obligations
  • Assist in preparing materials for lender consents, waivers, and amendments, and support day-to-day relationship management with lenders and agents following financial close, including helping manage the transition from construction to operations

Project Equity, Tax Equity and JV Governance
  • Support post-close relationship management for project-level equity, tax equity, and joint venture partners throughout construction and operations
  • Assist in managing information rights, approval workflows, reporting obligations, and issue tracking, and help prepare analyses and materials to support project-level decisions and ensure structures are administered in accordance with governing agreements

Corporate Capital Facilities and Treasury Interface
  • Support the administration and compliance of corporate debt and other private capital facilities, including facilitating Letter of Credit postings and surety tracking, and working closely with Treasury on liquidity management, forecasting, and covenant compliance
  • Assist in preparing materials for lender and investor communications and ensure consistency between financing obligations and internal financial planning

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as an execution-level point of coordination across Legal, Engineering, Accounting, Development / Asset Management, Treasury, and other functions to support effective governance and reporting across the capital portfolio

Buildout of the Portfolio Management Function
  • Serve as a foundational member of the Capital Portfolio Management team and promote successful implementation of a robust platform for administering multiple capital facilities
  • Adopt and apply technological advancements to continuously improve platform functionality and workstreams

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in project finance, infrastructure finance, energy investing, asset management, structured finance, or similar complex capital facilities.
  • Experience monitoring or managing complex capital facilities, with a preference for project finance debt during construction, including loan draws, conditions precedent, lender notices, and compliance tracking.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, track detailed obligations, and maintain high-quality documentation across a complex capital portfolio.
  • Ability to work effectively with external lenders, equity partners, and advisors while coordinating across internal technical and commercial teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with comfort operating in highly technical, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Ability to adopt the latest technologies and implement them to improve workstreams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with tax equity, joint venture, or project-level equity structures and their governing agreements.
  • Familiarity with corporate debt facilities, Letters of Credit, or surety programs and related covenant compliance.
  • Experience in energy, renewable power, infrastructure, or other capital-intensive, multi-entity environments.
  • Exposure to building or improving portfolio management platforms, tools, or reporting automation.

Location
Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX, with growing offices in Oakland, CA, Golden, CO, Reno, NV, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position is eligible for hybrid work from Houston or Golden; remote work or other office locations may be considered for qualified candidates, with in-person engagement as needed. Some travel will be required.
Success Profile
  • Builds well-organized, audit-ready documentation and trackers that a reviewer, colleague, or backup owner can follow easily.
  • Owns work end-to-end, follows up until obligations are met and signed off, and escalates blockers early.
  • Communicates with clear action items, deadlines, and business context across technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Uses technology, AI-enabled drafting, and automation thoughtfully while validating outputs and underlying data.
  • Develops repeatable processes and cross-training so the capital portfolio management function can scale sustainably.
