Empowering Financial Futures.

For more than 65 years, Glenmede's independent ownership, innovation and unwavering commitment to our clients have made us a trusted partner for private wealth, endowment & foundation, and investment management clients.

Our people are invaluable. Through a team-oriented environment, your knowledge, expertise and varied backgrounds contribute to thoughtful innovation. Our culture fosters opportunities for continuous career growth and development in all areas of the organization. Working at Glenmede, you will experience the infrastructure and resources of a large firm combined with the client and employee focus of an independently owned boutique.

Private Wealth: Empowering the confident pursuit of purpose, passions and legacy through integrated wealth management.

To us, wealth is not static or one-dimensional. The complexities of wealth management require an integrated approach to anticipating, understanding and addressing unique client circumstances. Our team of experts partners with every client to personalize solutions that lead to exceptional outcomes. Our success is determined by the success of our clients.

This position will operate in a hybrid work environment, 3 days per week in the office (Philadelphia, PA).

Overview:

The primary function of the Management Associate is to support the Portfolio Construction Team. The role is an integral component of the Team and will provide a broad landscape from which to learn asset allocation, investment solutions, portfolio construction, and integrated wealth management across the organization. The position is intended for an individual with an interest in portfolio management, construction, and implementation for Private Wealth clients. The scope of work will be an intersection of quantitative analytics and qualitative judgement, and the individual will need to be a dynamic, independent thinker who can proactively initiate projects without explicit directions.

Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Construction and Investment Research. Assist Portfolio Managers and Analysts with researching asset classes and investment strategies utilized in Private Wealth portfolios. This includes analysis of asset allocation, portfolio construction, and strategy-specific investments to ensure that portfolios are aligned with the client's wealth objectives and Glenmede's best thinking. Synthesize data into observable messages around style/sector tilts, geographic concentrations, performance drivers, risk contribution, and company-specific information. Identify opportunities to improve management processes to increase efficiency and reduce the probability of errors. Actively participate in internal investment meetings, including the Investment Policy Committee (IPC) and manager/strategy updates by the Manager Research Group (MRG).
  • Relationship Management and Client Service. Proactively and independently communicate with colleagues and clients to address questions and identify/resolve issues. Respond to client requests or proactively identify potential issues in the normal course of business, undertake research or take needed action to resolve (with guidance from senior officers where appropriate,) and keep all relevant parties informed. Cover situations that arise when other team members are out of the office. Act as initial point of contact for client and internal communications, manage information flow, prioritize needs, assist with and draft communications, as required. Participate in client meetings and conference calls, as requested. Prepare and maintain client related documentation in accordance with best practices. Develop a strong foundational understanding of wealth management topics including financial planning, fiduciary roles and responsibilities, and family dynamics.
  • Advancement of Business Capabilities. Ability and willingness to contribute to the advancement of firm-wide initiatives. Current initiatives include expansion of investment opportunities, appropriate implementation of private investments, and investment related consulting projects for prospective and current clients.
  • Portfolio and Account Administration. Rebalance portfolios to align with Glenmede's view on asset allocation and portfolio construction. Review daily reports (e.g., transaction, overdraft, bond maturity) for possible investment implications. Assist in preparation of presentation materials for client meetings. Coordinate with wealth planning, wealth advisory, tax, or other departments to ensure deadlines are met. Develop an understanding of middle and back office functions and processes and how they apply to data and systems used in the management of portfolios. Assist with firm compliance and regulatory reviews to reduce firm-level risk and to ensure the employment of portfolio management best practices.
  • Firm Building. Active engagement in department-specific and firm-wide initiatives in order to expand capabilities, create solutions to unmet business needs, improve client experience, or develop more efficient processes. Ability and willingness to contribute to the advancement of team, office, and business capabilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to investment and CRM-oriented IT applications (e.g., SalesForce, Factset, Bloomberg, and Charles River).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Full understanding of client privacy and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest or progress toward CFA or CFP designations with prior investment experience preferred.
  • Superior team orientation. Self-starter with a great deal of initiative.
  • Proven competence in the following; ability to work well under pressure; detail-oriented, particularly with financial calculations; organizational and problem solving skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize work; strong written and verbal communication skills.
