Job Title: Client Portfolio Manager - Public Fixed Income (Emerging Markets Debt)

Business Title: Senior Associate/Associate Director

Department: Global Client Group

Location: Boston, MA

Barings' Client Portfolio Managers work in close partnership with investment teams, sales professionals, and other stakeholders across the organization, serving as subject matter experts focused on business development, client servicing, and product development for specific investment strategies.

This position will support the firm's public fixed income strategies, with a primary focus on Emerging Markets Debt (EMD) and the firm's $15B+ Global Sovereign Debt & Currencies Platform. The successful candidate will work closely with senior team members, the investment team, and the broader Global Client Group to support existing clients and help drive future growth across Barings' Emerging Markets Debt platform. A portion of the successful candidate's time may be devoted to supporting initiatives across the broader Barings Public Fixed Income platform, with a particular focus on Investment Grade Credit.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and prepare marketing and client-servicing materials. This will include pitch books as well as scheduled and ad-hoc updates on credit markets and specific aspects of an investment strategy (e.g. monthly commentaries, market reviews, market outlook, performance reviews, portfolio positioning etc.)
  • Lead the preparation and distribution of regular EMD market and strategy updates to clients and prospects
  • Maintain and prioritize the firm's EMD new business and client initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide strategy-specific responses to RFPs and DDQs, and support broader client and new business needs
  • Develop close partnerships with the investment team to deepen investment knowledge and expertise, including:
    • Attending investment team meetings
    • Responding in a timely manner to client and prospect requests
  • Communicate investment strategies internally and externally with the goal of growing assets under management. For more senior members of the team, this may include active participation in client meetings, prospect meetings, and industry events.
  • Stay abreast of market developments and competitor intelligence

Qualifications

  • University degree
  • 3-7 years of relevant work experience, ideally in investment management or in an investment specialist/product strategist/client portfolio manager role
  • A passion for financial markets and economics, with demonstrated proficiency in fixed income markets. Emerging Markets Debt experience is a strong plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An analytical approach and problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive tasks and perform effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to meet all deadlines with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel required, including experience using MS Office software to produce high quality presentations
  • Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot/Claude to improve efficiency and streamline existing processes is a plus
  • Willingness to pursue CFA designation and FINRA licenses (as needed) is desired

Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 plus additional incentive compensation - depending on experience level
