Job purpose
The Seasonal TWIC Escort Coordinator is responsible for escorting non-TWIC personnel within secure maritime facilities and vessel areas while ensuring compliance with Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) regulations and facility security requirements. This position serves as a critical link between operations personnel, vessel crews, dock foremen, and port authorities to ensure safe and compliant access to restricted areas.
Duties and responsibilities
- Escort non-TWIC personnel within secure maritime facilities, docks, terminals, and vessels in accordance with MTSA requirements and facility security plans.
- Maintain continuous awareness of escorted personnel and ensure compliance with all security requirements.
- Verify and identify personnel requiring escort access at the beginning of each shift.
- Maintain possession of a valid TWIC card at all times while on duty.
- Understand and maintain required TWIC escort ratios, protective distances, and security monitoring requirements.
- Communicate effectively with dock foreman, ship foreman, vessel personnel, terminal operators, and Port Authority representatives.
- Utilize two-way radios to maintain communication regarding personnel movements, vessel activities, and security-related matters.
- Monitor secure areas and immediately report safety concerns, unauthorized access, or policy violations.
- Maintain accurate documentation an detailed notes regarding security incidents, escort activities, and access-related issues.
- Assist operations personnel with coordinating safe and efficient movement of workers within secure areas.
- Remain knowledgeable of facility security procedures, access requirements, and emergency response protocols.
- Follow all company safety policies, security procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Current and valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Ability to successfully pass al required background checks and security screening requirements.
- Ability to maintain TWIC eligibility throughout employment.
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and incident documentation.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain situational awareness.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to effectively communicate using two-way radios.
Physical requirements
- Ability to walk for extended periods throughout docks, terminals, and vessel areas.
- Ability to climb stairs, gangways, and vessel access points as required
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
- Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout long shifts.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
