Job description

Job Titles: Hydrogen Station Field Operator
Justification: To enhance operational efficiency, ensure compliance with site maintenance schedules, address immediate site issues, support manual fueling operations, and establish a robust reliability program foundation through proactive technical monitoring and data analysis.
Objective
This role is a hands-on operational role with expectation to support critical on-site operational tasks, ensure timely issue resolution, assist with customer fueling, and contribute to building a reliability program by collecting and analyzing operational data. The key dimension of this role is to improve site reliability, help reduce downtime, collect operational data, perform routine site activities, support customers and work alongside Cavendish team.
Key Responsibilities

  1. Daily/Weekly/Monthly Site Checks and Issues Resolution
  • Conduct inspections of hydrogen fueling sites (Wilmington, Ontario and Port of Long Beach) to verify equipment functionality, safety compliance, and operational integrity.
  • Document findings using standardized checklists and report anomalies to the operations team.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams or vendors to resolve identified issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Maintain a log of site issues and resolutions to track recurring problems and inform preventive maintenance strategies.
  1. Customer fueling Support (As needed)
  • ssist with manual fueling operations for hydrogen vehicles
  • ssist customers with fueling issues as needed
  • Monitor fueling performance and report any inefficiencies or equipment malfunctions.
  1. Proactive Technical Monitoring (Assist Ops Engineer as needed)
  • Perform real-time monitoring of hydrogen systems using Grafana and Web HMI
  • nalyze operational parameters (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow rates) to identify potential issues before they escalate.
  • Recommend adjustments to operational settings to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to implement monitoring improvements.
  1. Operational and Reliability Data Collection (Assist Ops Engineer as needed)
  • Download operational and reliability data from hydrogen systems, including performance metrics, downtime logs, and maintenance records.
  • Organize data into structured formats (e.g., spreadsheets, databases) for analysis and to help establish automated reliability programs.
  • Support the development of a reliability program by identifying trends, failure modes, and opportunities for predictive maintenance and site improvements.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 2-4 years in operations, maintenance, or reliability engineering, preferably in hydrogen, refining, chemical, or industrial gas sectors.
  • Skills:
  • Familiarity with equipment associated with hydrogen fueling systems, safety protocols, and operational monitoring tools.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis (e.g., Excel, or database tools).
