Your Opportunity
Your role is to work with general supervision and direction on average sized projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Project Manager.
You will be responsible for daily inspection efforts on multiple complex, large, and/or diverse projects in order to ensure contractor's operations comply with project plans, specifications, and contract documents. You will prepare sketches and assemble data for Field Engineer to utilize when making changes to the project.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Inspects and reviews projects during construction, monitoring conformance with plans, specifications, and other codes and regulations.
  • Monitors the progress of construction activities, ensuring cost, schedule and quality standards are met.
  • Generates reports of conditions found during inspection activities, notifies Construction Management of significant problems and completes documentation necessary to attest to satisfactory completion of inspection or test activities.
  • Manages deadlines, prioritizes assignments, and prepares final documentation for closeout process.
  • Inspects installation and placement of asphalt, runs density tests, and calculates quantities and costs.
  • Inspects installation of construction feature, measures dimensions, and calculates quantities.
  • Examines construction materials, checking to see if they meet specifications.
  • Reviews plans, specifications, requests for information, submittals, construction schedules, shop drawings and pay applications (QA/QC).
  • Tabulates monthly quantities for use in determining contractors' monthly payment estimates.
  • Determines estimated cost of construction projects using take-off estimates.
  • Assists with office work such as plotting cross-sections and computing earthwork quantities.
  • Prepares documents and maintains file management of project-related information including correspondence, reports, and pictures.
  • Trains and/or mentors less experienced staff in company procedures, standards, and software.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Knowledgeable in all areas of the National Electrical Code (NEC) including transformers, high voltage (duct banks) and low voltage transmission/distribution, switchgears, bus feeders, circuits, blueprints, wiring diagrams, generators, distribution boards and final circuits/circuit breakers, Meggar testing, switches, and circuit breakers.
  • Oversees commissioning and ensures as-builts are completed and the systems operating, maintenance and warranty manuals are collected and distributed to our client the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA).
  • Proficient in the inspection and documentation of electrical system installations and systems maintenance and repairs.
  • Basic skills in math, drafting, and science.
  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team.
  • Effectively communicates project issues with contractor, project team and clients.

Education and Experience
  • Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and construction experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas - Min Salary $ 79,000.00 - Max Salary $ 114,500.00
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
