Admissions Clerk- Overnight

Location: Port St Lucie Hospital

Position Summary

Port St Lucie Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Admissions Clerk to support the admissions process for patients entering our behavioral health facility. This role is responsible for insurance verification, pre-certifications, fax processing, and collaborating closely with nursing and admissions staff to ensure a smooth patient intake experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and process incoming electronic and faxed admissions documents

  • Verify insurance coverage and communicate information to nursing and admissions teams

  • Complete insurance pre-certifications and document outcomes accurately

  • Maintain accurate documentation and properly close out S-Faxes

  • Time-stamp and organize incoming documentation

  • Assist with hospital codes and emergency situations as needed

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards

  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams

  • Support departmental projects and additional administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • 1–3 years of healthcare experience preferred, ideally in behavioral health or mental health

  • Experience with insurance verification and pre-certification processes preferred

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and third-party reimbursement programs

  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment
