Job description:
On-Call Pooper Scooper — Backup / Fill-In ($22/hr)

Location: Rockland, Westchester & Bergen County
Company: Scoop Runners
Job Type: Part-time, On-Call

MUST LOVE DOGS — On-Call Professional Pooper Scooper

Are you reliable? Like working outdoors? Can you provide excellent customer service? Enjoy working with dogs in the yard?

This is an on-call backup position. You'll fill in for our regular staff when shifts need coverage and take on new cleanups as they come up. It's not a fixed daily route — it's an as-needed role, so flexibility matters and the more availability you have, the more work we can send your way.

Here's the opportunity: as we add more customers, on-call team members who do great work can earn their way into a regular route. Start by covering for the team, prove yourself, and grow into something steadier.

*** LOTS OF WALKING AND LIFTING ***

Compensation: $22/hour
Transportation: Company vehicle provided
Start: ASAP
Training: Provided — we'll teach you everything you need to succeed

What pooper scoopers do:

  • Drive up to customers' yards and clean up all dog waste with professional equipment
  • Dispose of waste in the customer's trash bin
  • Use our app to drive between customers

Responsibilities:

  • Drive and safely operate a company-provided service vehicle (we handle routine maintenance)
  • Keep equipment properly maintained, stocked, and in good working condition
  • Be available to step in on short notice when shifts or new cleanups come up
  • Build positive relationships with customers and represent Scoop Runners well
  • Use technology and GPS to notify customers and navigate routes
  • Work outside in ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS. Unless there's thunder, lightning, or other unsafe conditions, we work — rain, snow, sun, hot, and cold. We provide ponchos for rainy days.

You'll be working alone with little direct supervision. By nature of the job, you'll be interacting with pet waste, so expect some odor and the natural elements that come with it.

Must love dogs of all kinds and not be afraid of large or barking dogs. (We don't service clients with known aggressive dogs, but you'll interact with excited, sometimes jumping dogs every day.) A good sense of humor and a pleasant disposition will serve you well — it's physically demanding and fast-paced, but we have a great team and lovely clients.

Must be honest, hard-working, clean, efficient, and enjoy the outdoors. Must be able to read, write, follow detailed instructions, communicate clearly with clients and our office, and use a GPS.

Bonuses available for good customer service, new client leads, and a job well done.

Requirements:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Clean Driving Record (Required)
  • Background Check (Required)
  • Able to lift 30 pounds and work outside in all weather
  • Field service work experience preferred but not required

Benefits: Flexible schedule

Application Questions:

  • What appeals to you about this position?
  • What is your current availability Monday through Saturday?
  • Please list which counties you are available to work in? (Rockland, Orange, South Westchester, North Westchester, Bergen)
  • Do you own a smartphone?
  • Do you have your own car, this position requires you to use your own vehicle to cover shifts? What make and model?

Work Location: In person
