Description

ABOUT US:

Mid-American Pools is a leading pool construction and pool service company in Cincinnati and the greater tri-state region. Mid-American is renowned for delivering luxury, complex, and large-scale pool projects with excellence. We pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence, quality, and client satisfaction.

We are seeking an experienced Gunite/Shotcrete Nozzleman to join our construction crew. The ideal candidate will have experience specifically working the nozzle on a gunite or shotcrete wet mix crew and experience with trimming, carving, and/or cutting. As a Nozzleman, you will be responsible for applying shotcrete in various swimming pool construction projects, ensuring high-quality results and adherence to safety standards.

We invite you to learn more about us at https://midamericanpools.com and read on for a further description of the role.

Why Make the Move from Structural Shotcrete to Pools?

If you've worked in travel infrastructure work, tunnels, tanks, basements, or other confined spaces, pool construction offers a refreshing change of pace:

  • Limited Overnight Travel: Overnight travel is a rarity with us and      typically is only needed a handful of days each year. We are typically      either doing local work or daily commuting to regional jobsites.
  • Work in Open-Air Environments: Say goodbye to dark, dusty, claustrophobic      jobsites. Most of our work is outside in open residential settings-not      industrial enclosures.
  • More Artistic & Varied Work: Pools aren't just about thickness-they're      about shape. You'll use your nozzle and trimming skills creatively,      sculpting contours, benches, steps, and custom features.
  • Lighter Schedule, Strong Culture: No overnight tunnel pours or multi-week      industrial shutdowns. Our team is home most evenings and weekends, with a      work culture rooted in professionalism and respect.
  • Client-Facing, Visible Results: You'll help build something      beautiful-where the homeowner actually sees and appreciates your work.      It's a tangible impact you don't get in buried infrastructure projects.
  • Upskill for Certification and Growth: We support ACI certification and      cross-train for equipment, forming, and leadership roles-setting you up      for advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and interpret construction drawings to ensure accurate shotcrete application, proper coverage, and adherence to design specifications.
  • Inspects the form and surrounding area to ensure all the reinforcement (rebar, concrete substrate, Masonite, etc.) is properly installed and ready for shotcrete.
  • Set up, operate, and clean shotcrete equipment-primarily for swimming pools, with occasional work on other heavy construction projects.
  • Apply shotcrete to surfaces using a nozzle, ensuring even coverage and proper thickness.
  • Maintains and checks equipment daily, informing Superintendent/Foreman of any needed maintenance on equipment.
  • Assist the needs of the crew as required, including but not limited to material handling, equipment set up, and cleanup.
  • Train and mentor crew members on proper use of equipment (e.g., shotcrete pumps, compressors, hoses), delegating responsibilities to ensure efficient operations.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with site staff, owners, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with site safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to understand project specifications and requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to shotcrete application.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Assist in building forms or structures as necessary for shotcrete application.
