What You'll Do As a Fitness Trainer/Coordinator:
As a Senior Fitness Instructor, you will carry out our Mission of Love by being responsible for group and individual fitness instruction, exercise prescription, fitness testing and health risk appraisals for residents, employees, employee spouses, retires, retiree spouses, volunteers, children and special populations.
Our Fitness Trainer/Coordinator is responsible for the following:
  • Perform new member orientation to all equipment.
  • Responsible for opening and closing the facility. Maintains a reliable presence in the Fitness/Wellness Center so as to be available to members for assistance.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, attractive and safe facility. Checks documentation of infection control of the exercise equipment.
  • Demonstrates complete knowledge of the operation of all exercise equipment. Responsible for instructing the proper use of all fitness equipment and proper techniques in performing all exercises correctly. Responsible for reporting damage to the facility or equipment to the Wellness Manager in a timely manner.
  • Assist in marketing of the Barley Wellness Center and/or programs via videos, presentations, online, etc. Assist in recruitment and retention of employees and residents. Assist with the Corporate Wellness goals to expand the Wellness Rewards program.
  • Assist in design and development of risk management programming for the campus. Develop and deliver presentations for employees and residents on health/wellness topics. Development and design of flyers, announcements and advertisements. Responsible for researching and updating bulletin boards on current health and wellness information for our members.
  • Implement fitness programming and personal training for all members on land and in the water. Responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating instruction for group fitness classes.
  • Strives to keep current with information on fitness, wellness, diseases and conditions such as diabetes, stroke, cardiac, dementia, etc.

What You Need as a Fitness Trainer/Coordinator:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Exercise/Health related field preferred.
  • Certified Personal Trainer ACSM, NSCA, AFAA, or equivalent.
  • Certified Fitness Instructor Arthritis Foundation, ACE, or equivalent.
  • One year experience with 55+ populations is desirable.
  • Maintains all certification in CPR, First Aid, Life Guard, Certified Personal Trainer, etc.
  • Good written, oral, organizational, and basic computer skills.
  • Certified Pool Operator certification is desirable.
