LOCUM Gastroenterologist - Athens, Georgia
24-Hour Call Coverage | Inpatient GI Only | Holiday Week Opportunity
365 Healthcare is seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist for a locum opportunity in Athens, Georgia. This assignment offers 24-hour hospital-based GI call coverage focused on inpatient rounding, procedures, and consultative services with no clinic responsibilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for providers seeking concentrated inpatient coverage with future pool opportunities for ongoing shifts.
Schedule Model
• 24-hour call coverage
• 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM
• Includes inpatient rounding
• Weekend coverage included as part of schedule
• No outpatient clinic coverage
Coverage Needed
• December 21, 2026 @ 7:00 AM through December 28, 2026 @ 7:00 AM
• Opportunity to join ongoing PRN coverage pool for future dates
Practice Overview
• Hospital-based Gastroenterology coverage
• 196-bed acute care hospital
• Inpatient consultative service only
• EMR: Epic
• Adult inpatient population
Team Structure
• Support from 5 local Gastroenterologists
• Handoff model for continuity of care
• Collaborative hospital-based specialty support
Clinical Responsibilities
• Round on existing GI inpatients
• Perform procedures as clinically indicated
• Evaluate new ED consults
• Evaluate new inpatient consults
• Manage acute GI admissions and hospital follow-up needs
• Handoff patients back to local GI team after coverage block
Clinical Scope
• Bread-and-butter Gastroenterology
• General inpatient GI consults
• Endoscopic procedures as needed
• ERCP preferred (especially for those with prior privileges)
