Job description

Working with small team - Attention to detail & dependability are needed for role

Small manufacturer seeks to hire a manual Machinist to operate manual machining equipment on site such as vertical mill, lathe and surface grinder to make tools and equipment in support of manufacturing. This role favors candidates that work well independently, communicate effectively, are highly organized, and are proactive about equipment maintenance. Reports to R&D Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Create Master tools in Aluminum or plastic using supplied drawings.
  •  Machine and maintain process tooling and fixtures per delivery schedule in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications
  • Effectively operate wide range of equipment in the machine shop environment such as manual lathes, mills, surface grinders, drill presses, bench polishers and hand tools
  • Set up, operate, and adjust manual machines and assure dimensional conformance
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspection using calipers, micrometers, comparator, profilometer, and other measurement tools
  • Verify and document product appearance and dimensional conformity
  • Perform own set-ups, Requires employee to have machinist tools.
  • Modify and maintain cutting tools and fixtures
  • Modify saleable parts in support of production orders when needed
  • Maintain equipment and clean well-organized shop environment
  • Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to all safety policies and procedures
  • Work beyond normal working hours from time to time as the workload dictates

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • 5 years minimum lathe and mill set up and operation experience
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ability to set up and operate various inspection tools and equipment
  • Experience with rotary table
  • Basic geometry and algebra skill
  • High motivation to achieve great quality and prompt delivery
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Have own hand tools

This is a direct hire, full time, hourly position with health and dental insurance benefits. No relocation package is available. Only candidates residing within 50 miles of San Clemente, CA will be considered. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
