Poly Trucking information

What is a Poly Trucking job?

A Poly Trucking job typically refers to driving positions with Poly-Trucking, a private carrier that transports goods for Poly-America and its affiliated companies. Drivers usually handle regional and OTR (over-the-road) routes, hauling plastic manufacturing products and other freight. These jobs often offer steady miles, competitive pay, and benefits without dealing with traditional freight brokers. Poly Trucking is known for no forced dispatch and allowing drivers some flexibility in route planning.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Poly Trucking position?

To succeed in a Poly Trucking position, candidates need a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), a strong understanding of safety regulations, and proven experience operating heavy-duty trucks. Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), route-planning software, and cargo securement equipment is crucial. Reliability, excellent time management, and effective communication are valuable soft skills for thriving in this role. These abilities ensure the safe and timely delivery of goods while maintaining compliance and building positive relationships with clients and dispatch teams.

What does a typical week look like for a truck driver at Poly Trucking?

A typical week for a truck driver at Poly Trucking involves transporting freight over long distances, adhering to delivery schedules, and ensuring all loads are properly secured and compliant with DOT regulations. Drivers often interact with dispatchers, clients, and warehouse staff at each pickup and drop-off location. Responsibilities also include conducting routine pre- and post-trip inspections, maintaining accurate logs, and handling minor truck repairs as needed. While over-the-road routes may require overnight travel, local positions might allow for more predictable home time. The work environment emphasizes safety, punctuality, and strong teamwork with both on-the-road colleagues and support staff.

What are the requirements to drive poly trucking?

To drive for poly trucking, applicants typically need a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), a clean driving record, and may be required to pass a background check and drug screening. Experience with large trucks and knowledge of safety regulations are also important for this role.
