Job description

Job Objective:

To safely and efficiently operate company semi-trucks, ensuring the timely delivery and pick-up of materials while strictly following safety protocols and supporting the mission of Goodwill Industries. This position reports to the Transportation Outlet Manager who evaluates performance annually.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Drive assigned truck routes as directed by the Transportation Outlet Manager.
  • Communicate effectively with store personnel to ensure accurate completion of paperwork.
  • Maintain daily records of quantities and types of materials transported, submitting reports to the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Manually move items using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or poly carts as required.
  • Maintain a professional, friendly, and courteous demeanor in all interactions with store personnel.
  • Immediately report any truck or equipment malfunctions to the Transportation Outlet Manager.
  • Conduct vehicle safety inspections and complete all required DOT paperwork promptly.
  • Keep the truck's interior clean and well-maintained.
  • Adhere to all Goodwill safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Education and Skills:
  • Must hold a valid CDL.
  • Must be D.O.T. certified.
  • Ability to safely operate a Goodwill semi-truck.
  • Required to wear hard-soled shoes, gloves, and use other safety or protective gear.
  • Ability to read maps and have a good knowledge of the area.
  • Must maintain a clean and safe driving record.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and provide proof of insurance to travel to different job sites.
Qualifications:
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
  • Able to frequently bend, twist, reach above shoulder level, push and pull, crouch or stoop, kneel, repetitively use feet, and use head and neck in a twisting or static motion and to look up and/or down, and lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to safely operate a semi-truck GVW 80,000 lbs.
  • Ability to safely operate a straight truck GVW 25,995 lbs.
  • Must have a valid chauffeur's license or CDL and be DOT certified.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, hand truck, and pallet jack.
