Job description

Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team.  This role involves providing technical guidance, developing designs, and overseeing engineering projects that support a wide range of facilities and infrastructure. The successful candidate will have expertise in civil systems, including structural, hydrologic, traffic, sanitary, utility, and foundation construction.  (Site development, Structural, Utilities and Bridge experience).

Responsibilities:

  • Develop preliminary and final designs, design analysis, technical specifications, and cost estimates for new construction, modifications, and repairs.
  • Create designs for buildings, water supply systems, distribution and storage systems, storm drainage systems, and other facilities.
  • Provide professional advice and technical assistance to directorate personnel and tenants.
  • Investigate and analyze specific engineering problems and provide solutions to meet performance standards.
  • Analyze civil/structural needs, conduct calculations, and select systems based on available funds, energy conservation, pollution control standards, and preservation requirements.
  • Coordinate with architects and engineers from other disciplines to ensure project compatibility and integration.
  • Review plans and specifications prepared by architects, engineers, for adequacy and feasibility.
  • Investigate and resolve technical problems during project construction and collaborate with contractors and manufacturers.
  • Participate in final on-site inspections for specialty and unique facilities.
  • Conduct inspections of various facilities to ensure structural integrity and compliance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field such as Construction Engineering, with 7-10+ years of experience.
  • Broad professional knowledge of engineering theories, concepts, principles, and standards.
  • Ability to determine and execute actions for complex assignments.
  • Skill in researching, analyzing, testing, and evaluating information to devise efficient and feasible solutions.
  • Knowledge of energy conservation, pollution control standards, and preservation of historic sites requirements.
  • Expertise in managing engineering projects and providing technical oversight and direction.
  • Proficiency in English and strong communication skills for preparing and presenting plans, designs, reports, and recommendations.
  • Citizen of the United States.
  • Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance or ability to obtain an interim Secret security clearance within six months of employment.
  • Ability to travel (25%).
