Position Summary

Ninety percent of a childโ€™s brain development happens before the age of 5, and weโ€™re on a mission to help our youngest learners start strong!

Join Early Learning Corps as an Early Learning Tutor and youโ€™ll spend your days in a pre-kindergarten classroom to help students build skills and confidence. Weโ€™ll train you to deliver proven activities and coach you every step of the way!

How does it work? Partnering with a teacher, youโ€™ll help enhance learning. Whether talking, reading, writing, singing, or playing with students, youโ€™ll be helping them to build early literacy and math skills.

With the extra attention and support, youโ€™ll make an incredible impact and help ignite a love of learning!

Essential Qualifications

By the time you begin your service with Early Learning Corps, you should be:

  • Dependable and have a history of good attendance
  • Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback
  • Proficient in basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
  • Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
  • 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
  • Able to successfully complete a background check

Perks Package

Schedule

We are currently hiring for the 2026-27 school year. Positions run October 2026โ€“June 2027.

  • 35 hours per week (less in weeks with holidays or school release days)
  • Daytime hours (corresponding with school start and end times)
  • Monday-Friday (no weekends)
  • Time off on holidays and school release days

Part-time positions are also available at 27.5 & 20 hours per week!

AmeriCorps positions include a total service-hour commitment for the program year. Most hours are completed through regular site-based service; members work with program staff to plan their schedule and may occasionally complete approved service or training outside of the school day as needed.

Pay & Benefits

Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks. Compensation: $19.25 per hour served and additional perks! Learn more.

  • Up to $3,697.50 for college tuition or student loans (tutors 55+ can transfer this award to a qualified family member)

Started in 2003, Early Learning Corps has helped more than 128,000 children build early literacy and numeracy skills and get ready for kindergarten!
